I have had DOMS before but I don't remember having my muscles lose all their strength for days afterwards. I'm worried about leg day, last time I had sever leg DOMS I could not walk up stairs! I have a job to do!
I have been on and off at gym for a while now. Getting better, I think the Personal trainer has been an eye opener though. I don't push hard enough on my own. Truth is I guess I knew this. I tend to not push through pain or strain when exercising. Still its like drug dealing, you get the first six sessions very cheap and once they have you hooked they got back to full price. Going forward I think Ill pay full price once a week but it wont be cheap.
Need to start watching what I eat though, I have actually been putting on weight. Id like to think its all muscle but I know its not.

Modern research suggests that it's really only the last rep that matters in terms of promoting growth and strength, so the harder you push yourself the better results. If you're not sweating, grinding your teeth and grunting manly/womanly by the end of your set you're only cheating yourself.

Y'all just be glad you don't have my headache issue. Last year I developed what's apparently called primary exertional headaches, which is apparently a rare type of headache you get after exerting yourself, especially during hot weather. I spent quite a few weekends in excrutiating pain every time I did weights, which has been every Saturday for over a year now since I started exercising again. It's amazing how much you need to love weights to accept that you're likely to be wishing you're dead for the remainder of the day.
Thankfully, as I have been slowly building my form back up, the pain has gotten better and it's not at the level where I'm trying to crawl into my pillow but can do stuff around the house. I actually only recently understood the connection between me exercising and the headache, when I had exertion headaches due to the shere heat this past summer even though I stopped lifting for a whole month and my doc said there's likely a connection.

Good lord, they sound horrid. Glad to hear they have eased a little though.
Because I only go horse riding once a fortnight since I got back on, I get awful DOMS (even with proper stretching and what not) unless I swim the next day after a ride. That seems to be enough to keep it minimal or at the most bearable if it's there. No idea if swimming would be any good paired with weights though!
I need to swim this week. Had two weeks off due to a cold and then lack of time last week in run up to birthday because of visiting friends (which is lovely, but I couldn't get even one evening at the pool, let alone two). It will be interesting to see how I am afterwards because it's now dropped cold enough that my Fibromyalgia is properly awake again. At some point I'll need to go swim when I'm feeling rotten with it in order to break the cycle and start to push through it, but deciding each year where that tipping point is is a fine piece of judgement that I usually get wrong in reasonably spectacular fashion but it might lead to some funny anecdotes I can share with you guys, so not a total loss!

What is the point of having a publication date, if the same day, before the stores even open, the book is not available in stores?
And before you ask, there's no ebook version.
Sigh.
Edit: and to add insult to the injury, the online stock sold out, too!

Apparently it'll be released on Amazon in 2 weeks. Might just pre-order it there

I had this problem and I'm still not back to reading as much as before but I noticed two trends that contributed. Cant say if it will help you or not but maybe.
The first was how I was reading. I fell into a habit of reading only before bed and when in the bath (I find this very relaxing) however this meant I had basically an hour or less each day to read. This lead to me reading a book incredibly slowly, forgetting about a book and reading becoming less and less a part of my day, week, month etc. This I think was my primary issue.
The second was I notice that the more I read the less I will accept mediocrity. Less and less books grabs my attention. This is not necessarily a bad thing but it meant I was becoming more and more risk averse to trying new things. Especially since reading time was getting smaller and smaller.
I managed to jump start my reading again by selecting a sequel to a series I like and scheduling a day to read it. Got me back into the swing of things. I also made a list of books, the sequels to series I like and their release dates and a few recommendations from the forum to work through.

See, for me it was a beyond medicore tome that upset my reading, but it was offputting enough that I feel physically damaged in the sense that I can't bring myself to read at all (and it's 'award winning' to boot).
So far not even Gardens has been able to de-funk me.

Do you read any non-fiction Maark?
It's what I go do when I can't bring myself to read a novel - the change of pace seems to regalvanise me a bit. Although I don't think I've ever had it quite so strongly as you're describing.

My issue was less existantial and more practical, but similar in effect. I just didn't have the hours in the day to sit and read and when i did i either fell asleep or found myself too easily/quickly irritated with anything less than MEMORIES OF ICE level awesome.
The solution, which i recommend, was earbooks. A good narrator can turn an even mediocre story great, and the change to enjoying a story while commuting, doing laundry, running, whatever worked for me.
The odd time i have the opportunity to sit/read, i find graphic novels/comics on my tablet hold my attention nicely.
Messing with my groove is the age old moral/ethical dilemma of whether to have pizza or tacos for lunch today.

Yes, a good audiobook narrator is priceless.

Sullivan nabbing Tim Gerard Reynolds at the beginning of his career as an earbook narrator was a goddamn masterstroke for such and up and coming author. He is probably my fave narrator by far, and he and Sullivan seem to get on really well, meaning that the books get translated well to audio. Listening to his narrations makes book come absolutely alive!
