it's the long weekend. My birthday was 2 days ago, going out to celebrate tonight.
There are people in town for long weekend I haven't seen for a long time who are coming tonight, gonna be a good time.

It's also the first time since i finished high school that i'm home on my birthday and both
a) am not in school and
b ) have a steady job and can afford to go out.

getting a whole bunch of friend together, gonna be some good times.

I have a steady-paying job right now, I'm looking for ways to pursue my career, and my parents have finally realized they don't run my life anymore, and I am not just going nowhere with my life.
I've also spent half the day at work yesterday streaming World Cup qualifiers, and my team won (UKRAINE, W00T!), with still a chance to get first place and avoid playoffs.

oh, and I got paid yesterday.

Basically, it's been a very good half-week ever since Thursday.

and the weather is simply gorgeous for late October.

I have a son. My friends say the advantages to sons are:

1) Girls, especially multiple daughters = unbearable teenage drama
2) They cost less. A patient of mine had 3 sons and 1 daughter and says that now that the daughter is a teenager, she costs as much as all 3 boys put together, even factoring in the cost of food, which i found surprising.

Not sure about NZ, but in AUS they do have that awful disease of assuming the only way to increase power is to make shit bigger. 4L engines are the norm down there, and without super car output.

No, it's not an average sized engine. It is larger than 90% of regular cars. Then again, it does 0-100km/h in 7.1 seconds, while maintaining a fuel efficiency on par with my current 1.6l 4 cylinder. You can achieve the same output with a smaller engine, though the final fuel efficiency gains of a smaller engine is negligible anyway, so the larger engine is more or less meaningless in practice. It's like the fact that an Mazda RX-8 can achieve 6s 0-100km/h on a 1.3l engine; the rotary is just a different means of achieving the same result, and it has different trade-offs in terms of reliability and drive layout.

See first part of post. While Holdens and Fords do come with ridiculously large engine sizes, the vast majority of cars in NZ are Japanese made, and I don't think there are 4L engines in anything short of 4x4s, even in Australia, Maccy. XD

And Hyundai is a Korean company, who have exported their car to the US, Europe, and Asian markets. They make a 2.0L version of the car as well, but it's barely as quick my current car. But I believe all markets received a 2.7L V6 edition. So nyah.

So it's basically the same as here in the uk, with the exception of the Americanized Holden's which I remember from my time in Oz. I prefer European cars myself. Specifically German cars. Though I currently own a SEAT, which is a poor mans veedub really.

I would have been happy with either but ideally I would like my daughter to have a big brother. That way he can beat boys up for her.

My wife isn't the biggest fan of camping so this will allow me to drag the boy child on camping trips. Also, I plan to recoup all food costs with free yard work. The child labor act doesn't apply to parents does it?
