So...just purchased a new car.

May I enquire as to what kind of car?
Sure. I have gone for a 2003 Hyundai Tiburon (V6 2.7l, 6 speex manual). 'Tis a coupe, if you aren't familiar with it.
I'm not, being all the way over here in 'Ol Blighty, but I'm aware of what a coupe is. Very nice.
Some size engine too. Is that an average sized engine for kiwis?
No, it's not an average sized engine. It is larger than 90% of regular cars. Then again, it does 0-100km/h in 7.1 seconds, while maintaining a fuel efficiency on par with my current 1.6l 4 cylinder. You can achieve the same output with a smaller engine, though the final fuel efficiency gains of a smaller engine is negligible anyway, so the larger engine is more or less meaningless in practice.

It's like the fact that an Mazda RX-8 can achieve 6s 0-100km/h on a 1.3l engine; the rotary is just a different means of achieving the same result, and it has different trade-offs in terms of reliability and drive layout.

Bit early for a mid-life crisis isn't it?

Lol. I *learned* to drive on an Alfa Romeo, Sombra. What the hell am I supposed to buy after that?

Besides, 20 is mid-life, isn't it? XD

Not sure about NZ, but in AUS they do have that awful disease of assuming the only way to increase power is to make shit bigger. 4L engines are the norm down there, and without super car output.
See first part of post. While Holdens and Fords do come with ridiculously large engine sizes, the vast majority of cars in NZ are Japanese made, and I don't think there are 4L engines in anything short of 4x4s, even in Australia, Maccy. XD
And Hyundai is a Korean company, who have exported their car to the US, Europe, and Asian markets. They make a 2.0L version of the car as well, but it's barely as quick my current car. But I believe all markets received a 2.7L V6 edition. So nyah.
