Pointedly refusing to acknowledge such blatant evidence of my old age as Toby's marital and parental status.

Toby! It seems not that long ago you were leading Messremb and I to some hole in the wall bar in London and yet it's actually been a decade. Jesus that's weird to realize. Kudos on the missus and wee one!

I was going to rail against the idea of being old but just as the thought hit my good knee decided to hurt for no reason. There should be PSAs that your body will fail randomly for no reason once you're past 30.
And so the First denied their Mother,
in their fury, and so were cast out,
doomed children of Mother Dark.

A wild Toby appears! Welcome back. I thought the Old Bill had nabbed you for sure.

Of course there will be pics!

And to echo Ano, it just seems like a short time ago we had a couple of beers in a pub with Menandore and ... was it Imperial Historian? I still have the pics somewhere.
Same trip as Mal and Hetan's party in Cambridge, the one where Mez puked on the dog ...

That was mid-2009. Where did the time go? God, I miss those days.

The forum reread.

It's a nice comforting return in trying times, I've clearly forgotten loads so it's good to return to it and a fair few or forum members getting involved.

Special shout out to Apt for running it, and really going into the detail on his thoughts and reactions. Certainly easier for me to muster the brain cells to respond to his reflections than actually have cognizant thoughts of my own!

I think I know what perinium means but I'm afraid of googling it.

At what point does choosing to opt out of society flip from being the right thing to do in a pandemic and start to be hermit-like? Because apart from taking my kid to nursery and going shopping for food, I am shunning all available opportunities to leave the house and I am LOVING it. Not having to go out due to the pandemic has come so easily to me that now I'm wondering if I ever actually enjoyed going out at all. Or have I just become institutionalised in my own home? How do you find out?

Someone explain to me why flying even the most basic kite is so much fun. Breezy summer day here, convinced myself out of the house by about 200m to the local field with our kite. Let my son hold it on his own for the first time. "Whatever you do, don't let go". One millisecond later and it's free styling down the field to choke various neighbours and their dogs and I'm pelting after it in flip flops :D Turned the whole neighbourhood happy though. Doctors should put them on prescription.

Yep, never underestimate what a great present a kite can be. Not one of the over complicated things, nothing with two strings... just a single string easy flyer. That said, my boy has a dragon kite which requires quite strong wind to fly - but when it does it looks awesome with him running along underneath.
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

Just a few more days until the dust arrives on Gulf Coast. I'm kinda excited but I suspect Mother Nature is going to shit on the parade with the rain we have incoming. New phone though so hopefully it will take some decentish pics if I get a nice sunset.

Its great to have you back BK!

My daughter is 10 tomorrow! First birthday for a few years where she won't have to go to school. So we're all at home, going to have bbq and pool day. I got today off as a bonus A/L day, so I've been racing about getting all her stuff sorted and wrapped, and hiding the balloons, bunting and her new bike which I can put out later when she's asleep.

Oh and because we're doing a bbq, I've bought about a ton of meat, seafood and veg to put on it as I always seem to run out of things to cook just when its getting good.

And booze. Lots of booze to chill and drink from an impolite hour in the morning.
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

Sounds Ace Traveller.

My parents are coming down for a socially distanced visit, Grandad will be able to see bubba for the first time!

Would prefer to go for a proper visit with hugs. But I dont believe the lockdown loosening will last and I think we'll get a second spike - best to make the most of it while we can!

Finished a massive project. Sent the result in just ten minutes ago. Think I might take the rest of the day off and just relax on the balcony.

It's the week where "gymnasium" students (Think high school seniors) get their diploma and their student hats. As is tradition thousands of kids are being driven around the city in open bed trucks, playing loud music, drinking irresponsible amounts of alcohol and shouting incoherently at people they drive by, truck honking randomly. It's so loud and obnoxious and yet you can't help but laugh seeing a truck load of students dancing around in a moving vehicle having the time of their life. Saw a girl vomiting over the side of a truck at noon yesterday.

Ahh, to be young and stupid(er) again.

Just made 7 dollars recycling my cans and bought black and white cookies.

Now I know technically I just got my seven dollar deposit back but that’s joe what it feels like.

Must so though, given that you have to turn in the 140 cans one by one not really cost productive in the future.
