I'm surprisingly happy that one of my favourites won the Ukrainian Eurovision National Selection. Had a moment of fear there when that faceless puppet in heels got the max points from the national jury. Brrr :killingme:

Who won?

Melovin. I was hoping Kadnay would win, their song was really drived, which I like, but Melovin was my second favourite and would've won last year hadn't Jamala thrown a hissy fit. I think that's the first time in the history of me actively following Eurovision that I am not ashamed to root for Ukraine.

Germany has booked the last place again, though.

Ah k, so 2nd semi-finals, for both of them.

I just saw the first semifinalist batch, and there were like 3 names I recognized, and 2 of them (Kozak System + The Vjyo) didn't make it... and Erised..... eh, I saw them (her?) in December (I think?)- they were opening act for Boomboks, and they didn't impress. Though to be fair, if you're waiting for Boomboks, not a lot of things will, lol.

Yeah, both from the 2nd semifinal. All three acts from the first semifinal placed low. I honestly didn't reconize anyone from either semifinal unless they had already competed last year, since casually I am solidly in the 'rock and harder'-section, musically, and Ukrainian acts don't tour around here (which is surprising, since I'm geographically closer than you are, but not enough people who buy tickets to their concerts here).

Wasn't impressed at all by The Erised despite loving the genre, though.

My child loves to say the word "truck". Every time he sees one he shouts it out. He sees a lot while we're out and a lot in his toy box. Problem is that he pronounces it "fuck". If we're out you get to hear me awkwardly laughing and saying "yes it's a truck, TRuck" so that random passers by don't think my child is a potty mouth (note - he will be but not yet). Anyway, tonight he was shouting "Drink" so I taught him to yell "Drink, girls, truck". Gotta get your kicks where you can!

Wait - Hammerfest is a place? I thought it was like ... a fest? Of hammers?

Ie a fully balls-out metal festival.

EDIT: Google tells me that place is all sorts of fucked-up levels of cold. No, thanks.

It also has intermittent Obelisks of Light that will one-shot your MLRS. Not good.

I crashed a car I was hoping to sell a month ago. Minor accident but turns out I hit it in just the right spot and the 13 year old car is hard to source parts for so Insurance is paying me out. It works out to 50% more than the dealer was gonna buy it from me for! Also I still get to sell the car for scrap so hopefully that's a little extra too.

It feels good!

Yeah, he can talk normally now and is slowly returning to a normal diet. Thanks for asking!

Beautiful spring morning today. Gray clouds splatter a blue sky. Dew dripping off of everything in a cool 57F. Trees are sprouting fresh leaves and the grass is almost done turning back from golden brown to green. The river is swollen from all the fresh downpours which appears to be a slithering golden snake of pollen. Beautiful spring morning indeed but spring can go fuck itself.

At least you are not allergic to that pollen

Today I was able to walk normally again. Huge relief.

This.

Making me happy is my new haircut. Much less of a mess than I feared it would be and pretty much exactly what I wanted :(

Got called 22 at the bar.... Not really sure how to feel about it. I laughed when asked for ID. Bartender didn't like that. I'm nearing 40.

Just kinda amusing to me.
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

Tastes vary wildly. Luckily for me.

Well, varying taste and a Mrs with macular degeneration. :(
