LOL! It's like a weird vaudeville routine.

I realize I like my Job.

For years I have listened to friends mock the fact that I was doing a PhD. Id here things like 'I cant, I actually have a job', 'Wait till you get a job' etc. I have no idea how I gave them an impression that a PhD was a simple thing but I can say unequivocally that my job is awesome. Its less stressful, it actually pays, Its doing something fulfilling etc. Best of all no one including me expects me to work nights or weekends anymore. I have been working for almost 3 months now and I love it. No stress, no anxiety, no dealing with shitty supervisors or university bureaucracy.

Giving thanks in the middle of the year is tempting fate.

In Ottawa for work for 2 nights, and the central Chapters is absolutely gigantic.

And it's my payday tomorrow.

Just rescued 2 toads out of a hole by a pine stump I’m in the process of turning into my new stump fire spot by burning all the brush away 1st. I had to dig into the ground to get them then relocated them. I hope they survive in the ditch. Better then being burned or smothered tonight though.

You must be a bbq kind of guy surely. What is the one thing one must know to make in your world?

My aunt and brother both live there, and all I ever remember about it is that there are more one-way streets than in Toronto...which is a feat.

Enjoy! That Chapters is the best!

Miles Cameron's Red Knight made me feel joy about a classical, high fantasy kind of setting in a way I had almost given up on experiencing again. Time will tell if the rest of the series fulfill the promise made by the first book, but I am certainly hooked for the next one.

Internet works again after being down for a week.

Not only that, but the tech somehow upped the speed by fixing our port at the exchange. I'm getting speeds now in peak time I used to only get about 2am.

We'll see if it lasts, but for now I am happy.

Of course, me being back after a week's enforced exile is probably messing with your week-long good groove. :p

We assumed you'd been eaten by sheep.

You do realise that NZ only bred that many sheep so as to have some sort of defensive mechanism against your unconquerable emus?

That's a major logistical fuckup, since emus can't swim that far.
