This is Emma and she's 7 months old.

Cute pup but I don't understand why people give animal human names. Naming a human is boring due to social conventions but you can go all out with a pet.

She came with the name Emma and responds to it, so that was a big factor. My partner also likes giving human names to dogs and she cares about that more than I do.

My original suggestion during the dog finding process was "Waverly" with "Waves" being the diminutive. That was said to be a boy name by my partner, so we bounced a few names back and forth, but this one came along with a fine name that she knew.

I think my partner turning down Waverly means I get better naming rights for any human child we produce. So I'm willing to play the long game here.
I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.

Love the fall with it's shorter days, rustling dead leaves, and colder sunlight.

Though I outright LOATHED that first single...the new Taylor Swift album is...good. It's not 1989 good, but it's very very listenable.

The existence of chicken noodle soup. Less that an hour ago, I was a hungover zombie, unable to stand for more than 5 min at a time without needing to lie down, and seriously questioning whether I will ever be capable of eating anything without throwing up (having earlier puked up half a bottle of mineral water I left for myself yesterday when I was taken home by good friends)

Now I was able to walk to the bank and back, sprint to catch a green light (and the bus that came after it), as well as compose long, coherent apologetic messages.

I'm on my way to soccer, and barely an hour ago I would not have dreamed that'd be possible today. Perfect opportunity to sweat out most of that liquor so that I don't feel daed all of my tomorrow!

Ah yeah! USA! USA! USA!

US Women's Soccer Team beat Team Canada tonight 3 - 1.

The other night we played them to a 1 - 1 draw, which should never happen (especially to Canada). The officiating in that match was for shit. So much dirty play by the Canadians that they were allowed to get away with. I loathe Christine Sinclair on Team Canada. She's the dirtiest bully of the bunch.

USA! USA! ALL THE WAY USA!

[EDIT] They call these matches "International Friendlies". That don't seem to be that "friendly" though. hmmmm...

I would not worry, we shellack them in pretty much any sport that matters...

And with the Winter Olympics coming up...school is about to (once again) be in session.

Just got back from my first ever De Staat concert. On a circular podium. Which rotated. In a tent. With spectacular lighting. I have been to a lot ( and I mean A. LOT.) of concerts, but this easily ranks top 3. Dear Gods. Just wow. Wow. I am happy. Bloody extasy.
Yesterday, upon the stair, I saw a man who wasn't there. He wasn't there again today. Oh, how I wish he'd go away.

Has anyone here listened to Mozart's Reqiuem? I just finished, and it has to be one of the most sublimely beautiful things I have ever heard. The last part moved me to tears.

My dad is a big Classical music fan, so I've been into Mozart since I was a kid. Yeah I heard Requiem as a child and have loved it ever since! My wife and I even saw it performed live, which was AMAZING!

Then there is this, which is a fictional representation of him creating it...

For the most part I prefer Beethoven over Mozart. His symphonies have a majesty and grandeur to them that I love. But the Requiem is something else entirely. Thanks for the link QT!

I took a walk outside early in freezing weather and promptly slipped on Ice. Didn't fall. Slid across the road then walked off like I meant to do that.

I just needed to tell someone dammit, for like half a second I was Iceman!
