Could anything stop the 2nd from being a T'lan Imass...
alls a bad ass imass would have to do is kill a previous 2nd.
The segulah are prehaps the most interesting concept SE has made...for me at least...a bunch of bad ass mofo's who dont take shit from no one...

Only one flaw, the First Sword of the T'lan Imass lost to the third. It's definitely possible, as everything is, but on this display you'd say unlikely.
This always brings out the statement, but Tool is better now.

The Second isn't described a looking Imass. I don't think it was the mask alone that marked the Soldier as a Seguleh. It also showed a remarkable familiarity with Darujistand and the Segulehs history and culture.
It certainly didn't act like any Imass we've seen so far.

Who was the Seguleh chick that fought the Emperor of a Thousand Deaths, Rhulad?
what rank was she?
what rank was she?

She was the 12th and she didnt fight Rhulad, cause we see her escaping Letheras when Fiddler and Cuttle were trying to break into Letheras.
But on a side note, Karsa does defeat her so now he is the new 12th.

Well most Malazans know well enough not to look a ranking Segulah or any other Segulah in the face cause it ll be the last thing they ll see until they reach Hoods gate.
Hey maybe she ll go and present herself to tavore or Tehol and get ready to kick some KCCM butt in Dust of Dreams if the KCCM are there on the Eastern part of the Lether continent.
Its a crazy theory but yeah...........

I think people are getting ahead of themselves.
Seguleh don't kill you for merely looking at them. Seguleh will take it as a challenge if you look them in the eye and keep staring.

yeah Apt your right.
this is proven by neither of the Seguleh fighting Toc the Younger on their long journey together.
both seguleh knew Toc wasnt a real challenger

yeah true ..... thats what i meant when i said look them in the face but thanks for clearing it up.
Oh yeah Tool says something along those lines in MOI and also that Tool doesnt look away cause he s not scared of anyone and that as an undead, there is a level of arrogance that the living do not have. Eg. the 1st KCCM they fight went for Mok, Thurule and Senu.

well even when Mok and Tool fought each other wasnt Tool just defending while Mok was trying to kill him...
Tool didnt want to kill Mok cuz he knew hat the third would be needed to help get away from the Domin right?

I think you missed the purpose of that fight completely.
The only thing the Seguleh recognize is skill. Mok saw the skill of Tool when he defeated his two companions, using nothing the flat of his blade. He also saw that Tool did not recognize Mok as his superior. Mok had to fight Tool to confirm his position as the third.
Toll was the First Sword of the Imass First Empire. The FIrst Sword was to be with out equal but Tool saw the skill of Mok. He was his better with a sword, something that must not be. Tool was dutybound to either defeat Mok or die in the attempt.
There was no malice in their battle. Only duty.

I agree .... during the battle there was no malice but just after that scene where they fight the KCCM for the 1st time Toc asks Tool that his arrogance had just been shaken by Mok s beheading of the KCCM. And that he was duty bound to face Mok because the 1st Sword should have no rival (just like you said Apt) and then Envy makes Mok go to sleep or something.

oh i did miss that. that makes a lot more sense thanks Apt.
and yes Envy put him to sleep or something lol
Tool was pretty pissed about that too
so that means the first sword of the T'lan Imass is not equal to the first of the Seguleh placing the Seguleh as the best swordsmen in the world i would dare to say

I don't know what you mean about "not equal". You're talking about titles, the positions and the person holding the title changes.
And we don't know who or what the best swordsman is, it could the First but it could also be Brys Beddict, Dassem Ultor, Traveller, Karsa Orlong, etc.

but Apt Karsa is more a brute i thought? not a sword master...
thats what i gathered from his fighting at least, i could easily be wrong
and
by equal i just ment that the First of the T'lan Imass is not at the same level as the First of the Seguleh...
but that part doesnt matter so much

The ease with which Karsa defeated Rhulad suggests he's a formidable fighter, but of course a great fighter doesn't mean the same as a great duelist.

I'm inclined to believe that the Segulah first (2nd and 3rd also) are the best swords fighters known to the Malazan world...
With Dassem being the only one who could possibly be the trump...He might be the best...
but thats all just opinion as of now.
