I wanted to like the Deryni books but the Boohoo-we’re-damned-for-being-special element was so prominent I couldn’t enjoy the fantasy elements. Albeit many years ago

Bosses gave me a gift card. This means I could check out some works outside the series I've been reading
Picked up "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" , b/c it's one of those classics I've been meaning to buy for years.
Also grabbed "The Forgetting Moon" , b/c it's a pretty massive self-contained story.
Picked up the 4th Peter Grant book "Broken Homes"
Have just about enough left to order the "Starfishers" trilo by Glen Cook from BookDepository. After really enjoying Cook's "Instrumentalities of the Night" this year, I'm totally on board with giving Cook more money, and space opera by Cook sounds very interesting.

Decided to be a little more exploratory in my reading in 2019, So I’ve used an amazon gift card to grab three books by self-published finalist authors from Mark Lawrence’s Self Published Blog Off this year.
THE BLOOD KING by Keith Ward (Red Proxy book 1)
ACHING GOD by Mike Shel (Iconoclasts Book 1)
BLOOD OF THE WHISPERERS by Devin Madson (Vengeance Trilogy book 1)
They all sound great!

Blood? Aching? Whisperers? Sounds like my last prostate exam at the teaching hospital!
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

No echoes?
So is your doc known as the Prostate Whisperer? Because that's one heck of a mental image ...

Now I'm left to disgustingly wonder if this means you administered one, or received one.

Really enjoying Attanasio's Solis, so I bought his Locus- and Nebula-nominated book, Radix.
