Wow, downtown SUdbury has a HUGE used books store.
Picked up Greg Keyes' "Age of Unreason" trilo. I've heard good things, and I (mostly) enjoyed Kingdoms of Thorn and Bone quite a lot.

FYI, there are 4 books in that series.
"Here is light. You will say that it is not a living entity, but you miss the point that it is more, not less. Without occupying space, it fills the universe. It nourishes everything, yet itself feeds upon destruction. We claim to control it, but does it not perhaps cultivate us as a source of food? May it not be that all wood grows so that it can be set ablaze, and that men and women are born to kindle fires?"

4 books in a trilogy?? That really does sound unreasonable!
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

Bought Kindred by Octavia Butler and the first of the greatcoats series as both were in the Kobo sale. Long way down on the to read pile but worth getting now.

Upon Macros endorsement of the series, I grabbed the first book in Simon Scarrow's Macro & Cato series.
Mac, question, are they all good, or are there some I should skip as I read them?

I read the first four or five and enjoyed them all, can't speak for beyond that though

Hmmmmm
I'd say hit the first 5 for sure.
I'll need to take a skip through the synopsis' there is one of two that are a bit lacklustre, kind of like Sharpe in that respect. But there is more of a continued narrative throughout the series than Sharpe. There is a bit of Mary sueism towards the later books

I'd say Preatorian is where the Mary Sue starts.
But there's a few solid books after it, but I'm a big fan of the series so ...
To me scarrow has done a Sharpe/Uthred in Rome, with a slight twist on the relationship of the main protagonists. Its fast paced popcorn fun

Scarrow's Eagle series definitely get a thumbs up from me as well. I've read them up until six or seven and I've enjoyed them all. I agree, they're not exactly high literature, but they're quite good for the level of difficulty. I certainly enjoyed them a hell of a lot more than the Britannia series.
Edit: Also, today my copy of Kellanved's Reach arrived. It's a good day!

My earbook TRP is beginning to strive for ebook TRPFH-like majesty...
- James (it's a pen name, stupid) Corey, TIAMAT'S WRATH, because The Expanse.
- Mark Lawrence, GREY SISTER... because $5 sale + i already bought RED SISTER and HOLY SISTER streets soon and i will listen to the entire trilo once completed. Mark is awesome, i just prefer his trilos in one fell swoop.
- Hayley Stone, MAKE ME NO GRAVE... because $0.99 ebook +$2 earbook sale + weird fantasy western = dammit, bye money!
- J S Morin, GALAXY OUTLAWS: The Complete Black Ocean Mobius Missions, 1-16.5... because $5 sale + this is 85 frikkin hours, and the reviews were pretty positive mostly drawing favorable Firefly analogies.
