Religion has survived the earth being spherical and orbiting the sun. Its survived the theory of evolution , its survived logic and the death of god...Nothing can stop it...

Well, I guess it would be a sure way of proving that God exists. If you kill off all the believers and the faith still pops up... ;)

not strong enough an argument. Before god there was the sun and god knows what else ;) Some people just need an excuse. Which makes me wonder...

The more primitive a civilization the more primitive their gods. Advance far enough and you get to the point where the question of whether there is a god comes up. I'm not sure if this line of thought is important. thoughts?

Well, I should have said the same faith - including the same stories and everything - would kinda make you wonder, wouldn't it?

I don't think that the questioning of religion is a new thing at all - there have probably always been people who questioned religion. We just don't know about them until they start writing down their thoughts on the subject (and before literacy became widespread, religion was transmitted by oral tradition).

The President (2012) said:

Please proceed, Governor.

Chris Christie (2016) said:

There it is.

Elizabeth Warren (2020) said:

And no, I’m not talking about Donald Trump. I’m talking about Mayor Bloomberg.

That's nothing new - even religious people question religion.

No worries, but does it strike you as weird that God would want us to pray to him? The concept of praying to our gods came about before the jewish god came to be, why would he continue that trend?

Well, since I kinda believe God was first, that problem doesn't occur for me.

Mankind has been around longer than the early biblical times, before then animal worship and idolatry was the norm, and even back then it was unusual for god to speak to mankind, the whole prayer thing is one of the biggest drawbacks to the 'rightness' of religion.

Firstly, it's kinda hard to pinpoint when the 'early biblical times' took place exactly, and secondly, as I said, I still believe God has existed first, before everything else. So you see, that's not a problem for me.

I'm fairly certain early Babylonians had no idea who the jewish people were and they were pretty much very high up on the old first civilization ladder. And since the flood and Noah is accorded as the first real beginnings and the start of judaism (and mankind as a whole because the slate had been completely cleaned) => christianity...Hold on. So how on Earth did everyone become so different? Genetics does not move that fast and there is no mention of god taking a hand and creating black, white, asian and indian etc peoples immediately after the flood. You would have thought that they would have mentioned something as wondrous as that.

You'd think. Or it's simply the fact of whoever wrote it didn't think it was all that important...

Well, I guess anything looks like small news right after the spectacular creation of everything...

Hold on, burning bushes get a good mention, and yet creating the separate races of mankind gets shunted to the side. and all this immediately after the flood which was recent enough to write about?
