Could they just be a pack of Ay? the shadows from the flames making them look dark? I like the Barathol ref, but the white wolf has to be Ghost...

Nah, Ghost is over on the other side of the Stormwall.
But it COULD be a pack of anything. Including Ryllandaras (sp), whose form was wolves d'ivers.
- Abyss, gleefully happy with self for remembering that d'ivers dude...

Ohhh that is a good one.....I think in HOC he was at 7 wolves. So for him to jump up to 9 isn't really that far of a stretch.

Have there been any cover scenes mentioned in the prologues of any of Erikson's books? I doubt it.
I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.

I suggested Ryllandaras a while back since desert wolves could roughly fit the description, and Ry has shown to split into 12 in HoC and 6 in BH so the numbers could fit.
Though I'm sure someone mentioned that SE realised there should only be 5 "creatures" in the background. (possibly in the US artwork thread in announcements, will go check)

I just figure the white dog is one of the yet-unseen Hounds of Light. *nods*

yeah an Interview if I remember correctly....so it came from the Horses mouth...
he said people confuse the fact that thier are hounds of shadow and
hounds of darkness and figure there must be hounds of light,
except it isnt balanced like that, the hounds of darkness is just a name not what they are actually connected to, they are the Deragoth

Maybe the Liosan have Pigs of Light instead...that'd be sweet.
I wonder if we get any new maps in TtH or RotCG.

RotCG is a safe bet, after all we have no indepth maps of Quon Tali that I know of.

I was thinking that. I wonder if any of the action will take place of of Quon Tali? I'm guessing Traveller's parts at least.

I thought that all of the action was on Quon Tali, the only real place not on Quon Tali is Malaz City, the former capital and location for NoK. Now, the capital is on Quon Tali. The Crimson Guard are returning there to get the land back for their Prince.

Right. But doesn't the synopsis also say Traveler's journey will take him strange places or something along those lines?

"Meanwhile, a swordsman, Traveller, and his companion Ereko, move from one strange encounter to another in a mysterious dance meant ultimately to bring the swordsman to a final confrontation from which none have ever returned."
The confrontation could be anywhere but it's most likely to be in Quon Tali or in a warren.
