But that is of course nonsense since the deragoth should have about 3 times the black ones bulk. They would have to be as big as the white one looks compared to axe guy if you ignore the depth in the picture.

Someone remind me... in discussion in HoC, Onrack mentions how many d'ivers form Dessimbelackis had.... was it 7 or 9?

Plus, although there are five HoS, and two killed in GotM, there are also references to a few others plus Garath.

- Abyss, STILL can't see the frikkin pic....

It was 7 Hounds of Darkness... until Karsa killed two and dragged their heads all the way across Seven Cities ;)

Abyss are you using Explorer or Firfox? I'm only able to see pictures on the forum with Explorer. Firefox doesn't show anything...

I thought once the Deragoth were killed, the Hounds of Shadow came back. Damnit, I need to see a list.

Rood
Doan
Shan
Baran
Gear
Blind
Ganrod

Doan and Ganrod were the ones killed by Rake and imprisoned in Dragnipur. Are they now alive again?
I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.

I think so. We haven't actually seen them since have we? Man my memory is bad.

I still think it is sad that if it is the Deragoth...the artist couldn't even get the number right....

Perhaps it is the non-dark animal deragoth-the ones that are supposedly extinct (like the KCCM for that matter) - (here's hoping for the artist's sake) or something else entirely?

Bah, it looks cool enough if you overlook that. It's got my approval.

The artwork itself isn't bad...but I would like it to be accurate in number and actual size....but I will say it is much better than the other covers.

@amphibian [/Quote" Doan and Ganrod were the ones killed by Rake and imprisoned in Dragnipur. Are they now alive again?QUOTE]

Paran got them out of the sword, but they ended up back as the shadows of the two Deragoth who were alive, that Onrack freed, and eventually Karsa killed, so now they are really really dead.

Interesting as well that the figure has chains around his wrists... could give a clue to who he is.

Ok I do believe that we are fogetting a large White hound like creature that travelled with Lady Envy. I know that one was Granth. But there was another one. I don't have the books with me so I can't give you his name. Is it not possible that he gather some wolves friends and is doing a little house cleaning for somebody.
How many fucking people do I have to hammer in order to get that across.

The two doggies with Envy were Baaljagg and Garath.

IIRC Baaljagg was actually Fanderay and moved into the beast throne with Togg, whose soul was riding Toc's mangled body.

No idea where Garath went... so he is definitely in contention as the white hound on the cover.

Much thanks Skywalker. Garath that was who I was thinking of. :p as for the dude who is wearing a chain bracelet. Your guess is as good as mine.

Garath isn't white:

Quote

'A second, four-legged shape emerged,... dark, mottled grey and black, and dwarfing Baaljagg. Coal-lit eyes set in a broad, blood-soaked head...' (MoI, uk mmpb, p.399)

I can't find a ref for baaljagg's colour, but she is consistently reffed as wolf-like which would suggest a greyish or brown colour, I suspect we would have been told if she had white fur, but it's up in the air.

Finally, FINALLY saw this (THANKS Imp' Historian!)... and y'know, that IS a cool cover.

Pretty wide open for interp:

- the black animals really look like wolves rather than Hounds or Deragoth, but allow for artist's interp and it's open season on anything canine and furry;
- the white one in the foreground i could go either way with - a wolfish dog or an outright wolf. Other than that it's not a Deragoth, allow for artist interp again and it could really be anything or anyone in the related Hound/God range - Blind, Fanderay, Garath...;
- my first instinct was that the dude is Barathol, mainly because we don't have any other identifiable axe user. Note the broken chain from the manacle... hmmm...;
- so.... that's a pretty big fire, eh?

Anyrate, neat.

- Abyss, also PROLOGUE!!!!! NOOOWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!
