Japan's goal was a complete foul. The guy may have been looking at the ball but how come he went WAY past where it ended up to take out Schwarzer???!?
Added to the pre-game insults that the aussies are too physical and all the blatant diving, playing the referee was CLEARLY their tactic. I like the japanese but for a people with such a strong sense of honour, this was a very disappointingly dishonourable tactic.
The only forgiveness I can muster is that they watched our lead-up defeat of greese and lichtenstein and draw with holand and knew they couldn't match us. Which is understandable
This Aussie team is making it to the second round, count my words! If we can avoid the czechs in round two, face italy instead, win, then beat france we could make the semi against probably argentina haha ok im dreaming, but Guus did it for south korea last time! He's our shaved knuckle in the hole!

Half time and it's Korea 0 - 1 Togo. Both teams not playing particularly brilliantly, but Togo's goal was superb! After the goal (at 31 mins) the pace and the skill has upped dramatically, and it has become a much more exciting game. Still, both teams are playing on about an equal level and it could still go either way. My bet is for a 1-0 win to Togo.

after the performance the other day i cant see holland making it to the semi's. despite all the talk they are still as fragmented as ever.

Agreed. Holland, the greatest footballing nation to never win the World Cup. They always get there or there abouts but then they start with all the infighting, bickering, one man show stuff. Though, I'm loving how Van Basten has picked the squad. Got rid of all the non-team players, showoffs. Everyone on that squad seems like a team player and they still have got quality skills. Probably their best chance since 1990. The best squad I've seen of their's that was.
Just a bit off topic, how awesome would it be if they had Robben AND Overmars?! :cool: Shame Overmars is too old now. =(

I know the Japanese goal looked very bad, and I'm very suprised a foul wasn't given, seeing as you can barely breath on the goalie without giving them a free kick nowadays, but the fact remains that they didn't break any rules of the game with the goal. I was supporting aus as much as anyone was, and if they had lost it would have been very unfair, but thats football for ya;)

How disappointing was brazils first appearance? Ronaldo is so sad, he really shouldn't feature on the squad at the moment, his HUGE. I think if they were a cold hearted nation they'd put him aside but as he is...I just don't see any good coming of him.
The Czechs were really good, france was disappointing and I see the dutch coming through this year, maybe against another european group? I think argentina won't make the finals and brazil are looking shaky.

england won't beat anyone.
now, as for Brazil... their performance was very disappointing. in fact, the second half I'd say was for Croatia all the way, Brazil can speak about luck.
