Vhagar looked very old and not as agile as other dragons.
That's because Vhagar is one of the three Dragons that Aegon the Conquerer and his sisters/wives Visenya and Rhaenys rode when they came to conquer the 7 Kingdoms. The only surviving one actually in the timeframe of the show. Aegons dragon, the biggest, Balerion the Black Dread died when Viserys was a child and it's his skull that is present in the Red Keep on display in the background of some shots. Rhaenys dragon was Meraxes, and died with her on an attack on Dorne. Visenya's dragon Vhagar was the last survivor of the three that kept having clutches of eggs, and doesn't die for a few years yet. She's cranky AF and has a deep and unabiding temper.
Despite the episode being a bit of a table re-setter after a decade time jump, I found it did really well at catching up and showing us where all the pieces currently are. I'm glad the time jumps keep happening (not big ones, there are a few more to age up the kids to young adults) as we have not even hit the DANCE yet. I've heard that starts proper in like Ep 9 and from that point onwards through the second season and whatever it will happen in a single time.
The adult versions of the two leads did a great job, and I even think that Emma D'Arcy is really going to show us something special as Adult Rhaenyra.
