That's a bit like selling disinfectant in the US with an IV needle and syringe stuck to the side.
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

Over the weekend out and about, sitting at a stop light, an oldster in an R.V. pulls up next to me with his windows rolled down and as he is stopping (on my passenger side thankfully) he lets loose with the most ear shattering, sinus rattling sneeze. I look over (he's not wearing a face mask), and he pulls out a snot-rag (old guy personal handkerchief thing) and he lays into that snot-rag with a nose blow that sounded like a clown horn. I promptly rolled up my windows and just shook my head in disgust. Light turns green and traffic gets moving. He gets ahead of me and surprises of all surprises, there in all of its hateful, racist glory, is a "Trump 2020" sticker on the back of his R.V. Oh deary me.
Also, to my American fam. Do any you folks notice there seems to be an inordinate amount of out of state license plates? Damn, I've been seeing so many... Virginia, California, Montana, New Mexico, Kansas, Florida. Seems like this is the summer for the Chevy Chase style Vacation road trip.

While I live kinda close to a major beach/vacation spot, yes, there are a ton of out of state plates. Not sure if I'm just seeing them more wondering what the fuck they are doing, going on a vacation in the middle of a pandemic, or what. I do know the vacation spot I'm close to was doing well keeping the cases down and started opening up and then it just got flooded with people who refused to wear masks (mandatory here) and who refused to follow the guidelines for eating out and stuff. They had to close down again.
Mango Mussolini's anti-mask stance has these morons out thinking everythings fine. Meanwhile my grandmother in a care home is essentially locked in her room because they are taking measures seriously to protect the elderly. That care facility has had numerous recent suicides because these people don't see anything to live for and just assume they are going to get the virus and die, because of how many people aren't taking it seriously.

I feel terrible for older people in this pandemic in the States...becoming essentially "expendable" in service on not only thew anti-mask squad the president is leading, but also the "open the economy" crowd. It's fucking disgusting, and not ONE of them should ever be able to talk about fetuses/abortions anymore. Ever.
--------------------
Speaking of, my sister (who is in conservative in Canada, and is super supportive of Capitalism because she is, and I quote, a "fighter" and everyone else is "lazy"...ugh) has become an "open the economy, this national debt load from COVID is too much now..." person...and I'm sitting over here, the family "Dirty Socialist" for being a liberal and wanting progressiveness...going WTF is wrong with you? She also doesn't have good relationships with my parents because she had baggage from our childhood during their divorce, so I feel like she doesn't care if they are exposed and pass away? She also keeps trying to sell me the notion that if our parents die with debt that we will be on the hook for it....no amount of me explaining how utterly ludicrous that is will convince her.
I feel like I'm just waiting for my sister to be the lead in a Karen video...because that shit is going to happen (it's only a matter of time) because that's TOTALLY show she is...when presented with a situation she doesn't like, she rages outwardly and would film herself doing it because in no world does my sister ever think she's wrong.
I love her, but she makes it REALLY hard sometimes to want to be around her or listen to her. It's been much worse during COVID as some of her bad tendencies have clearly been exasperated.

Got something strange to report my sisters aunt told me today who I’m quite close with. Well apparently her daughters went to get some corona test done at one of the drive in testing sites and it was so crazy hectic and hot and taking forever that they got fed up and just left without getting swabbed and a few days later got their positive results in.
If it wasn't from someone you knew I'd call bullshit, they take your details at the swab desk here, so you would have to give your address for the results to be posted to then speed off before they swabbed you for this to happen. This is how it works here, so at a glance the story reads like one of the many being spread about by the 'covid is a hoax' crew.
I would pick at her for a few more details, I'm curious as to how they got her address to post fudged results to if she left the queue

I think my aunt's nephew's brother's neighbour's cousin had a similar thing happening with their grandkid. Very worrying, if true. Still, got no reason to doubt it. I know their grandkid to be a very reliable source, he can describe his alien encounters to a fine detail. The probe bits always crack me up.
Yesterday, upon the stair, I saw a man who wasn't there. He wasn't there again today. Oh, how I wish he'd go away.

My friend's racist uncle's Facebook timeline has many examples of this kind of thing happening. Scrolling down through the posts I see his description of coronavirus testing fraud about every third post, usually right after those "Mexican Word of the Day" memes he's so found of.

Yeah, they don't take your info until you're right there at the desk or station, after which you get swabbed.
So either your sister's aunt's whoever left in that surprisingly small window after waiting for hours and they screwed up or the whoever is lying.

It's a anti-mask, "COVID is a hoax" narrative that is bleeding into the regular people from the extreme nut jobs...the notion that some places are fudging tests to boost numbers to make Trump or whoever else "look bad"...as if the notion that some places mucked up some numbers here and there from a file management system standpoint automatically means the whole thing must be bogus and can't be accurate. It's nonsense. A few mismanaged files in the system doesn't not preclude the 10k's of actual cases...
My own sister-in-law, because she lives in a Conservative-right-winged-bastion province of Saskatchewan, parroted this notion a few months ago on our bi-weekly Zoom event with friends to which I heartily laughed at her and said "Yeah, because the numbers are being fudged or mistakes are being made in the THOUSANDS of cases reported...sure"...she shut up after that. But this is a VERY persistent notion that people keep talking up...and it's fucking garbage.
Add in that COVID is contributing to other forms of deaths by exacerbating or speeding them up....so cancer patients, and whatnot who get COVID are dying of a combination of Cancer and COVID on their death cert's....this is a legal thing that the Doctor has to do/report. Those numbers DO still have to get reported as COVID deaths because nothing will show that the COVID "didn't" affect the cancer patient, who might have lived longer otherwise with just cancer and not both. If that makes sense? So deaths of immunocompromised patients with diseases already who get COVID and die, get the COVID case/death number because it's in their system.
I think your sisters aunt is either bullshitting you BK, or some clerical error occurred after she'd been swabbed. No way she had given none of her info, not been swabbed, and still got results. That's straight up impossible.

A heads up on another thing that is gaining momentum. There is a narrative about testing - that it doesn't work, is a fraud, and is being used to make Trump look bad to hurt him in November. A chant at Trump rallies will be a thing, no doubt about it.

The testing lines are super long and that's the worst part about this - they don't have to be and just about everywhere that's seen COVID-19 in big numbers has fast testing.
This is squarely on Trump, the GOP, and the state governments cutting into public health, refusing to buy in quickly that this is a big deal, and now trying to fuck with the providing of care to people.
I don't really blame people for leaving after 8 hours waiting, especially in the hot muggy weather. But we shouldn't be in the situation to begin with - Turkey is doing 40,000 tests a day with results back in two hours at airports. That's how far behind we are and it's largely because of the shithead we have as president.

'Trials involving 1,077 people showed the injection led to them making antibodies and T-cells that can fight coronavirus.
[...]
There were no dangerous side-effects from taking the vaccine, however, 70% of people on the trial developed either fever or headache.'
https://www.bbc.com/...W5Xq0cECLovIWVA
That could be a hard sell in the United States... though IDK how much of an impact a Trump endorsement would have on his followers. (Have they started wearing masks in much larger numbers now he's finally endorsed them?)
[Edit: 'Just 50% of Americans plan to get a COVID-19 vaccine
Jun. 30'

...and that's without assuming it will probably cause fever/headache.]

The underlying reason is fear - and specifically the fear of being treated like property. We microchip pets.
The shittiest thing is that the people scared of this will often gladly vote for the politicians giving all of our money and power to corporate entities that do treat us like property or simply a mechanism to get rich through.
It's a gigantic breakdown in correlations and appropriate reactions, but hey, tinfoil apparently isn't awful to wear as a hat these days.
