Assuming you (Cause) are still in Philadelphia, Spruce Street Harbor Park might have some nice hammocks to try:

But unfortunately they 'closed' for the year last week so I think they've probably taken them down. (Or maybe they're just not regulating them anymore? Usually you'd sign up to reserve one for a specified period of time. Seems like a waste---have some optional sleeping bags or comforters chained securely near the hammocks, put up some tarps, and they could provide sleeping areas for the homeless.)

Also the hammocks aren't bulletproof (yet) unfortunately....

Homer : Sir, I need to know where I can get some business hammocks.

Hank Scorpio : Hammocks? My goodness, what an idea. Why didn't I think of that? Hammocks! Homer, there's four places. There's the Hammock Hut, that's on third.

Homer : Uh-huh.

Hank Scorpio : There's Hammocks-R-Us, that's on third too. You got Put-Your-Butt-There.

Homer : Mm-Hmm.

Hank Scorpio : That's on third. Swing Low, Sweet Chariot... Matter of fact, they're all in the same complex; it's the hammock complex on third.

Homer : Oh, the hammock district!

Hank Scorpio : That's right.

-------------------

Hank Scorpio : Back to the hammocks, my friend. You know, there's a little place called Mary Ann's Hammocks. The nice thing about that place is Mary Ann gets in the hammock with you.

[laughs]

Hank Scorpio : I'm just kidding.

Homer : Oh.

Hank Scorpio : You know who invented the hammock, Homer?

Homer : No.

Hank Scorpio : There's something for you to do: find that out.

that's a difficult question to answer. It depends on what you cook and for how many.

When that is said, I've had this for 15 years now and it is amazing.

When looking into options, consider a wok. I've had one ever since my introduction to the versatility and performance of one as a teenager when my dad decided on a whim to purchase one for my mom to have a go at stir-fry.

A wok, a LeCreuset as Morgoth said, or an All Clad skillet with lid.

My partner is a fairly serious cook and after my contributions, she has all three and more.

The LeCreuset everything braiser gets used the most, the skillet second, and the wok third. All would be extremely useful for someone trying to cook most things in there.

It mostly depends on what you eat and what you want out of a pot or pan.
I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.

And on what sort of range you have. A wok will be useless on electric or induction ranges.

There are woks made for electric stoves. I have one. It isn't good, but it doesn't suck as much as you'd think it would suck.

I kinda love it when D'rek unleashes her nerd wrath, as I knew she would here. Sorry innocent bystanders, but someone's gotta be the kindling.

also regards holding off for "big sales" a lot of companies build stuff specifically for big sale days (see black friday) and they are an inferious product with slightly different serial numbers for this reason

That is entirely not true, unless your plates are terrible.

If you can hold off, wait until President's Day (or one of the other federal holidays that give you a Monday off). There's usually sales around those times.

Also, general rule of thumb (taking personal preference into account) - go firm. It's better for the back.

Maybe this "Äny Malazans in ...?" needs to have it's own thread?

I think there used to be one back in the day that was along the lines of where in the world are you or something like that.
