I'm gonna put Cause's Japanese in as a placeholder. If a Native speaker has an issue with it we can adjust!

Not a native speaker myself, but an alternative way of saying that would be "Watashi wa malazan empire no shousetsu o jyusatsu yonda/yomimashita". Cause is right, in Japanese many factors determine which counters you're supposed to use. Books, or rather "bound objects" have their own proper counters, and ten of those would be "jyusatsu". Also, I would suggest using "shousetsu" which is the Japanese word for novel. Typically, in sentences like this the counter latches onto the verb and comes after the verb particle (the "o" before jyusatsu).

My native language is Estonian. It has same roots as aforementioned Finnish and they are closest to each other in Finno-Ugric group. I can also understand Vőro (or Southern-Estonian) language/dialect that is older and more archaic than official state language that is based on Northern Estonian dialects.
In school I was exposed to English and Russian languages. First one really didn't take off until I started to read in English as the books from the genre of my choice (fantasy/sci-fi) don't see as much translation to Estonian as i'd like. With russian I can read and understand basics but without further practice my knowledge of it is very limited.

heh, I cheated and did a quick color theory course. It was good.

Memrise is a lot more challenging than I remember it. I was scrambling with Katakana. might need to do a few refreshers...

Also Welcome in Japanese is youkoso! I have always wondered what it meant when watching anime.

Hey Gryllen, thanks for adding to this!

So Estonian and Finnish are rooted together. Can you maybe share what the words mean individually? for example which word is a book or a series? I am guessing...kümme?

Sorry to bother you but I am really interested in how Scandinavian languages relate. I was shocked to hear a Norwegian talk to a Swede in passable Dutch the other day.

I refuse to believe that's normal but they say the switch is super easy.

...among other things. Mostly free although you get a bigger benefit from pay packages.

Gamifying learning makes it tons of fun, for example, I am thoroughly kickings Mac's ass this week. :p

The Top 3 using this method in no particular order are:

Memrise
Duolingo
Busuu

Haven't tried busuu, found Duolingo to be fun but felt that memrise offers more on the website side by way of grammatical corrections and the like.

I probably would struggle to go back to duo now especially as I dropped off it at the early beginner stages, which I don't want to wade through again.

I've considered jumping on duo for French and seeing how they compare that way and keeping memrise for German.

I did quite a bit on Duo before getting memrise but nothing too intense in any one language. I find it working as a sort of pre-vocab workout before jumping on to memrise for intensive phrases and dialogue.

Busuu was pretty dialogue intensive too.

You were encouraged to interact with other people, correcting their English while having your learning option corrected by Native speakers. It was a fairly decent experience for me but I think I'd rather follow the automated lessons and Busuus best lessons required subscription which I wasn't interested in.

The pain. The pain.
Yesterday, upon the stair, I saw a man who wasn't there. He wasn't there again today. Oh, how I wish he'd go away.
