Indeed. I think people who want to see this one need to temper their excitement for Momoa being in it...as Idaho isn't in it much...

Also, I saw an interview where he mucked up Herbert's name (called him Frank Hubert), and said the book was "written in the 80's or something"...which is funny. Still love the guy tho!

I also saw John Boyega comment on the pic of Oscar as Leto in the Atreides armour and said "Fucking hell Oscar!" and "Why couldn't Star Wars have been like this?"

So that's some delicious shade.

Indeed.

Though I think the quote is more about the fact that we follow a Luke like hero's journey character who essentially chooses to be the Emperor when given the choice, not reject it. Probably also that the religion is more dense than good VS bad.

Huh, weird. Article is from summer last year, and since then the showrunner attached, Jon Spaiths, exited the show, and HBO Max was seeking out someone else for it. To be honest, I would not expect this show to even get into pre-production until the the Dune movie part 1 comes out and Legendary sees how it does...but it does SOUND like WB has bigger, broader plans for the DUNE series if Villeneuve can make it soar.

That is a cool Trailer. I should do a Dune re-read. It's been at least 20 years since I read the book/books.

Also on a sidenote I continue to be happy every time I see Batista in a big budget movie. I feel like he's a legitimately good actor that's smart about the roles he picks or at least his agent is.

Bautista is an excellent actor. I watched a recent episode of Room 104 (HBO series) and I was surprised at how good he is. He is better actor then the Rock, head and shoulders, and I like that he isn't necesarily taking the same path and trying to match the Rock action movie to action move for the king of action movies mantle (like Stalone / Schwarzeneggerr 80s), but instead is carving his own path.

Visuals look good. Plot is well... it's Dune. That's a lot of plot.

Is there a plan on this to be multiple films? Isn't Dune (IIRC) cut into basically 2 parts in the first book?
