I am beyond excited and I'm not at all surprised. Villenueve has NEVER made a film I didn't love.

First image of Chalamet as Paul in the remake! Obviously, this is at the beginning on Caladan before they leave for Arakkis Spiceworld. :)

Oh man, this looks so dope! Lots more images.

https://www.vanityfa...m_medium=social

The Stillsuits look REALLY good! Grounded like most of Villeneuve's ideas, with a tiny nod or two to the Lynch versions, but still very much DUNE.

Also, how did I have no idea that Momoa was playing Idaho?!

Anyways, this cast is beyond stellar, and I ADORE this director...

EDIT: Fuck it, after I finish AGE OF EMPYRE, I think I'm going to re-read DUNE.

EDIT 2: It looks like they gender flipped Liet Kynes too....that will probably ruffle some Dune-purist feathers, but it doesn't bother me at all.

Oscar Isaac as Leto is perfect.

I'm looking forward to the movie Kynes and the upgraded arcs for the other women. That's long been something that bothered me about Dune.

I also think that breaking the first book into two movies is a great idea. Not sure where they end the first one, but if they could go heavier on the Imperial Palace some that would really make Irulan pop.

Especially because the Seitch's are patriarchal in nature in the books, so Liet being Chani's mother instead of father (if that's what's going to happen, who knows) then that fundamentally changes the Sietch cultural structure and frankly I feel for the better. This book was in the 1960's and time has moved on, so the story should too. Like Jackson adapting LOTR and amping the female presence in them, this can only be a good thing.

The initial book was always thought by Herbert as two volumes as far as I've always heard, and it's a behemoth, so this makes arguable sense. I would think the cut between the two films will be Paul ascending to become Muad'dib proper, no?

I notice no Tooth Dr there....

Also still a very glaring absence of FADE HARKONNEN!

The book being split into two movies very likely means that Feyd doesn’t show up till the second film. His casting hSnt been announced which means he either shows up at the end of this one, as a surprise reveal....or not until the next one. His scene at the beginning of the fist book (the one where Harkonnen and his mentat are explaining the whole plan to Feyd) is likely dropped? Who knows.

Why would the rename it to Dune Sisterhood if its a retelling of the original story?

Huh? It's not. It's just called DUNE. Where did you get Dune Sisterhood from?

New picture of Zendaya as Chani from her Insta.

She's such a great choice for the role!

Bout time.

If this goes right there better be a push for Messiah and Children.

I would expect that if Villeneuve nails this with the right marketing, this could be LOTR level success. I hope that means MESSIAH and CHILDREN would be next.

I'm pretty sure I would have preferred a series. But a new movie is also good.
Screw you all, and have a nice day!

Can't see it equalling LotR success, but it should do well.

LotR is, at a base level, a VERY simple story of good versus evil. Dune not so much

Absolutely accurate.

I just hope the adaptation is strong enough to really land with casual audiences.

I think the best description I saw of Dune was..."Have you ever wondered what Star Wars would be like if it didn't give a shit about you?"

And I can't argue that notion.
