Speaking of great players, and I can't believe I'm about to say this, but Mo Salah is a top guy, calling out the limp announcement of that Palestinian footballer's death after Israel killed him.
They made it sound like he'd passed away by unfortunate misadventure instead of being murdered and Salah rightly challenged it. Probably cost any chance of ever getting Balloon D'or and don't get me wrong as a United fan I hate how good he is for Liverpool, but this was an excellent thing to do.

In the US, things have turned a bit to "allow" (or at least not "cause the eventual destruction of a career in the public eye") people like top level politicians to vote and call for action against the Israeli caused genocide in Gaza. Some sports people have been open about this, most have been silent, so it's a good bit away from a vocal coalition that is getting major traction.
But stuff like Salah doing this helps and reinforces that to play soccer, especially on a high level, requires global awareness and coordination for peace and joy to take over.

Cantona, was he as good as the over hyped united fan Bois suggest?
No
As a talent Zlatan wipes the floor with him, as a personality Cantona edged Zlatan as being funnier with his arrogance

And Zlatan never fly kicked a nazi AFAIK so Cantona has that edge over him I guess.
