UEFA Champions League quarter final draw.

Damn, Liverpool v. Manchester City. Hoping Liverpool goes as far as they can. Obviously will probably be Barcelona or Real Madrid to win it all though. What do you guys think?

BTW what happened to Paris Saint-Germain? I figure with the acquisition of Neymar they were considered to be more of a threat. Neymar got hurt though, right?

PSG looked at Barca and thought. We want that, let's spend all the money.
What they didn't realise is Barca only really bring in one big new name a year (ordinarily) and the core of the team know each other inside out.
And neymar is no Messi. He's not a Suarez either. They bought the wrong player for £200m

There is no one quite like Zlatan. Loved having him at United.

Can't stand Cristiano Ronaldo, but what about that bicycle kick?

Whoah. My hamstrings nearly snapped just watching it.

DVR'd the match and watched it when I got home last evening. You know it is something special when the look on the other team's face reads "what can you do?" And Juventus' home fans applaud you. I anticipate when countdown lists are made (ex. Top 20 UEFA CL goals of all time) that goal will crack at least the top 10.

For those who haven't seen it yet. Here it is:

Class Manchester derby today. I know city have got the title in the bag but they didn't win it against us and we came back from 2-0 down to beat them at the Emptihad. Good game.

That would be really cool, but, alas, not going to happen.

Was happy to see Liverpool go through. What's the deal with Firmino's teeth though? Does he intend to enter a best smile contest for horses only or something?

Glaringly white, like unnaturally so. And they are abnormally large. I guess he really wants his smile to stand out.

I'm not a fan, tbh (although I do like Liverpool). That little wave he was giving the Man. City fans when he scored that goal was unnecessary. I imagine if he pulls that at some stadiums, he may need police escort to safely exit.

Wow. Ronaldo not only took off his shirt but pulled his shorts down a bit to give viewers the full impact of his abs. Do you think most women would drink his bath water?

In other news.

I mean that was a penalty, can't be denied. Sucks, I know. Wasn't sure why Buffon was carded out of the match though. I've seen worse impassioned reactions towards officials and they smartly hold up their hand and step back, not automatically reach for the red card. Buffon must have said something pretty vile or something. Still, if I was the official, in a situation like that, I would probably let a lot of transgressions go and it would have to be almost to the point of physically getting attacked before I pulled the card.

Bit sickened for Buffon, not the way he shouldn't be bowed out of European football.

I disagree, I think referees are way too conservative in handing out cards when players react out of order. In theory, the only player even allowed to speak to the referee about a situation is the team captain, and they are expected to be polite and calm when doing so. Considering his reaction on the field, and afterwards, I find the card entirely appropriate.

I agree wholeheartedly on the approaching the ref on that front Morgy, just a shitty way for Buffon to bow out.
Regarding reffing, footballers would do well to see the respect most rugby players show the referee.

But back to Buffon, was it really a penalty in the first place? Not exactly convinced myself, but Real slip through anyway, would love to have seen them crash out

I don't know. If it hadn't been as game changing as it was, I don't think this would have been all that controversial a penalty.

looked like a penalty to me. Benatia pushed from behind and used his left leg to deliberately kick Vazquez. Of course, last minute penalties always suck, but this one doesn't look as controversial as the Italian press is making it out to be. And Buffon really should be old enough to know that refs don't like being crowded and screamed at like that.
But I really have to admire Ronaldo. He has an ego bigger than Quick Ben's, but he delivers when it counts. And has ice in his veins.

Speaking of red cards, I wish the ref in the Bayern/Sevilla game would have been a bit stricter. Instead of playing attacking football, Sevilla were busy doing as much damage as possible (and whining when a Bayern player so much as touched them). Correa had had that red card coming since the first leg.
