If definitely was a penalty. The replay leaves no doubt.

About the red card for Buffon, in principle, it can be justified. I just think there is a 'situational' element to a match like that. The score, the field, and the stakes on the line. Knowing that Real Madrid were going to get a PK, as the referee, I would have been a lot more tolerant of the opposing team yelling in my face. They would have had said something very egregious or physically attacked me for me to pull the red card.

who knows what Buffon said to the ref? Strangely enough, he hasn't commented on that yet. XD
But yeah, unless he really insulted him, maybe the ref should have let it go.
Then again, I don't think even Buffon would have been able to save that penalty.

Semi-Final draw this morning. I thought it couldn't have worked out any better for Liverpool's chances to advance to the championship match, except I'd rather Liverpool have the 2nd leg on their home pitch. I'm not too knowlegeable about Roma, but what do you guys think? They the easier match (compared to playing Real Madrid or Bayern Munich)?

Also, TIL the mayor of Kiev (host city for championship match) is former heavy weight boxer Vitali Klitschko.

hm. Well Bayern/Real is the favourites vs favourites match, I'd say. I think Real is the most dangerous team left, so both Liverpool and Roma are kind of lucky they don't have to play against them yet. I think both teams have about the same chance of reaching the finals.
I'm glad that we (Bayern) can play Real now. For a change, no key players are injured, Heynckes is a great manager, everybody seems to be pumped up...I'm so looking forward to this!
On the other hand, Bayern vs Liverpool would have also been pretty interesting.

I'd honestly say any one of the 4 teams can win it. I'd say Bayern are favourites

Juve showed that Real can be blitzed, Roma tore Barca a new one, Liverpool can score anywhere, but are still defensively frail.

I'd say Bayern are the most complete team there but they didn't like Sevilla getting in their face.
Real are not the team they were, look at their league form in a year that Barca are starting to show cracks as well.

yeah, but you can't judge Bayern by their league success either, because the Bundesliga is not on a high enough level. They seem strong, but I had a better feeling about them being able to kick everyones asses back in 2012/2013 (great days Posted Image). Their defense is very good when they focus on it, but I'm not so sure about their scoring capacity at the moment.
Whereas Real's defense is their weakness, but as long as Ronaldo has a good day, they are able to score against any team out there.
I don't follow Liverpool or Roma closely enough to know who of them is better. Klopp certainly is a great manager, though.

Real hang too much on Ronaldo, Liverpool are dependent on Salah too but not to the same extent. Without Ramos barking at the back real can be defensively frail, is he going to get a ban for his antics in the quarter final?
Roma I know is very little about but I feel they could have a bit of Liverpool about them, league form be damned show up big style on the grand stage. We should take them but I'm not thinking it will be a walk in th park by any means.

FA Cup final achieved and Liverpool drew with West Brom so it's not so likely they'll overtake us.

Not a bad weekend in a fairly disappointing season.

Booooo. You guys beat my Spurs. And what's the deal with José Mourinho? How come he comes across like a dick all the time?

I like my managers rife with whimsy and serendipity.

Because he is a dick.

In other news, my home team’s and city’s most successful player tonight provided the opening volley for Barca’s thrashing of Sevilla. Cillessen gave a beautiful long pass from his own 16yard box which led to the first goal in Barca’s cup win. There are some rumours that Liverpool is interested in signing him. I’d love to see Cillessen in the Premier League. Go on, make NEC proud. We got very little else to cheer about at the moment.
Yesterday, upon the stair, I saw a man who wasn't there. He wasn't there again today. Oh, how I wish he'd go away.

Damn. Arsène Wenger stepping down as manager for Arsenal (22 yrs.). Arsenal being my brother's team, I wonder what he thinks about this.

The door was definitely slammed shut and it was a done deal (Liverpool on to Kiev), but those late two goals by Roma just barely opened it again.

That first goal by Salah was sublime.

Come on Liverpool!

Real Madrid up 2 to 1 on Bayern at end of first leg. Pretty much how I figured it would go.

how can you be so unlucky? Two key players injured in the first few minutes...okay and they kept losing the ball during the forward movement and they kind of managed to fuck up some really good chances. Now I'm depressed.

Go Real Go!

Just kidding, since I live in Canada and Canadians are so uncivilized that they don't have football on public airwaves, I haven't seen a whole match in three years. But on principle, I hope Real wins.

On principle I hope Real never win anything again.

Only saw the highlights, Bayern had a few decent chances that they squandered and two players limping off did not help.

But seriously fuck those blancos fucks and their galacticos bullshit

Well. Real Madrid on to Kiev.

Damn, Bayern had so many chances. Really put on the pressure but just couldn't capitalize.

In other news .. . Come on Liverpool!

well, if you have so many chances, but don't manage to do anything with them, I guess it can't be helped. Really makes me wonder about Bayern's strikers, though. Even if Robben and Ribery stay for another season, they just aren't that good any more, who knows what Lewandowski wants, Coman is injured, Müller has turned a bit unrealiable...bah.
Anyways, now I hope Liverpool win and then kick the shit out of Real.
