Freakanomics taught me that the drop in crime in the eighties has a lot to do with abortion becoming legal.

Are you blaming Freedom?!

Well it could have to do rise of the left ?

I mean people here won’t see it that way ...for obvious reasons .. but it is funny that we used to offer gun classes in schools and formal training and the left took that away cause clearly that’s dangerous when we have 100s of millions of firearms.

Weird!

I also have thinks it’s funny that we have murder simulators called videogames that we don’t think warp people’s minds . If it’s fun.. it doesn’t matter.

You realise that America is more right wing than it has ever been before, right? Taxes are lower, industry regulations are reduced, and so on. What part of America is now leaning towards social welfare and wealth redistribution more than it used to be?

Oh, wait, you're mistaking the term "left" to mean socially progressive, aren't you? Go figure.

Come back when you're not trying to troll so hard, Nico.

@ silencer.

The lefts lost( or the Dems)...Go visit the burned out states of flyover states.

It’s gone. The lefts totally and absolutely did not take care of this part of America . It’s gone man. Drive around the non cities ..

It’s gone. A certain part of America got left behind .. and I challenge people to travel there. It’s a depression.

It’s weird the left wings capital (San Fran) has a problem with homeless and the amount of poop. Yup.

Another fun San Fran article was the salesforce transit center

Closed !

It’s this super modern station that’s built for billions of dollars on the taxpayers expense , built off shitty labour ( bad welds), off foreign steel (bad steel) off free taxpayer money according to the Dems !

The Dems need to get their stuff together ! This modern transit center could collapse . Just like the Dems should have held their party accountable! Nothing. Zero. Zilch. Sad!!

Having read through that...whatever it was, I do notice one chink in it's otherwise totally impervious armor.

Got any more of them there....sources?

He's right, you know. The left is pumping violent video games into the poorest neighborhoods. That's why it's always the poorest schools that are so full of the latest computers and ipads or whatever. Whenever you see a kid doing the Fortnite dance, it's probably a pre-murder ritual. Left-wing brainwashing. They should be put on a list (one of those small government, just-for-everyone's-safety lists that George W. Bush liked to make).

And ask yourself, why are these neighborhoods poor in the first place? Lefties wanna convince you it's right-wing racism in places of social and political power enacting formal and informal segregation policies, among other things. Jim Crow, disenfranchisement, joblessness, overcriminalization, redlining, white flight, etc. The fact is -- if you actually pay attention to the wisdom of blogs written by the dumbest pukes on planet Earth who somehow still have all the answers -- it's, like, uh Medicare and Social Security for some reason? Gay people maybe? Lack of formal praying at pep rallies and sock hops? Is there a way to couch this in propagandist jargon that doesn't sound stupid? Oh yah, it's because of Socialism.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

Person 1: In light of the insane # of annual deaths by gun violence, let's talk about America's singularly perverse gun culture and what we might do to ameliorate the national crisis.

Person 2: I'm glad you brought up black people, because -- rest assured -- I have many opinions about them. You ever heard of rap music?

Slightly off-topic, and maybe even slightly inappropriate, but I read all of Nico's posts yesterday and they strongly remind me of a friend I have here.

They both have the same style of talking - vague allusions and short sentences. My friend too has a tendency to believe in conspiracy theories. Only a few months back I had to have a lengthy conversation with him about why the apocalypse is not happening now.

My friend also has a problem with understanding the importance of identifying legitimate sources while processing online information. We had a 3 day running debate on whatsapp about this.

The resemblance to Nico is uncanny. My friend is really a wonderful person. Kind and generous, extremely good-hearted, he has left a job due to ethical differences with his boss, but he can be rather paranoid about the world and paradoxically trusts random Youtube videos. Its not that he is uneducated or inexperienced, he has a masters degree and has worked several pretty prestigious jobs including one for the country's number one newspaper. But somewhere there is a disconnect about information.

I find it increasingly hard to relate to such a perspective which is centred around totally different assumptions of the world. When I was a teenager, I was like Mulder from the X Files. I wanted to believe in ancient aliens, I spent a month studying Nostradamus, but as I have grown up, my work, especially my archival research has shown me how utterly banal the world is.

Its not that there is no governmental evil, but this rarely takes the shape of conspiracies. The idea to reduce or deny or delay famine relief that killed thousands was not hatched in a shadowy room by sinister characters, but in an office where a bureaucrat calculated how much money could be saved. A senior secretary and an accountant came up with it, approved it and implemented it.

You can't really fight this through debating conspiracy theories and prepping for doomsday. You engage in the politics, you become actively democratic, you campaign and agitate, and bring change. Because there are only two ways to change institutional evil - either you reform them, or you bring revolution. In the 20th century we saw that revolution brings its own bloody set of problems. So reform is the only viable solution.

Although we should not be so quick to call it cold calculation when it may be more easily described as sheer incompetence.

The thing I love about conspiracy theories is how amazingly proficient and more importantly close-mouthed these large groups of shadow people are. While it's not necessarily impossible, I think it highly improbable you can have more than a few people like this in a group. Let alone the thousands that would have been involved in faking the moon landings for example. Frankly, any more than 1 person involved in keeping a secret multiplies the chances it will get out. Exponentially.
It's even funnier if you believe that people like Alex Jones and his audience are the kind who could ferret out such secrets.

Absolutely. I can provide you with the entire sequence of events which led to a remote hilly district not getting any rice supplies in the famine of 1897. The local administrator, who was British, wrote probably 100+ letters and reports pointing out the lack of a railway, lack of a metalled roadway, the havoc the monsoons would cause on rice imports via bullock carts, the necessity of sending rice early, and was totally and systematically ignored because everyone thought he was exaggerating. Sheer incompetence and bureaucratic inertia makes Genghis Khan look like an amateur.

12-13 dead in a bar shooting in California, including a police officer.

Apparently some of the survivors of Las Vegas were there when it happened.

"If only an armed guard in riot gear with an assault rifle was present, this would not have happened."

And/or:

"It must have been a mentally sick person."

And/or:

"California is Dems country. Dems are weak on crime. This would not happen under a Republican."

Edit: apparently he had an illegally modified weapon and there was indeed a mental health issue.
