Didn't we? Wasn't the whole 'burn them all' thing the Mad King ordering napalm down on the rebels just before Jaime kebab`d him?

Yes, but we didn't see a hint of Rickard and Brandon actually burning in the throne room. Or the hundreds of people who supposedly watched them burn. Ned's conversation with Jaime:

Jaime: Thank the gods you're here, Stark. About time we had some stern, northern leadership.
Ned: Glad to see you're protecting the throne.
Jaime: Sturdy old thing. How many kings' asses have polished it, I wonder? And, what's the line? The king shits, and the Hand wipes.
Ned: Pretty handsome armor. Not a scratch on it.
Jaime: I know. People have been swinging at me for years, but they always seem to miss.
Ned: You've chosen your opponents wisely, then.
Jaime: I have a knack for it. Must be strange for you, coming into this room. I was standing right here when it happened. It was very brave of your brother, and your father too. They didn't deserve to die like that. Nobody deserves to die like that.
Ned: But you just stood there and watched.
Jaime: Five hundred men just stood there and watched. All the great knights of the Seven Kingdoms. Do you think anyone said a word, lifted a finger? No, Lord Stark. Five hundred men, and this room was silent as a crypt. Except for the screams, of course. And the Mad King laughing. And later, when I watched the Mad King die, I remembered him laughing as your father burned. It felt like justice.
Ned: Is that what you tell yourself at night? That you're a servant of justice? That you were avenging my father when you shoved your sword in Aerys Targaryen's back?
Jaime: Tell me, if I stabbed the Mad King in the belly instead of the back, would you admire me more?
Ned: You served him well... when serving was safe.

I thought Tyrion used up the wildfire against Stannis' fleet.

In the books he used a tiny, tiny amount. There's still enough in the city to blow the whole place to kingdom come. In the TV show I'm not sure if they've specified the amounts involved.

But again, it doesn't matter much because their spells are working now and they can make more pretty easily. Apparently the pyromancers have nothing better to do, so we could assume they've been making more since the battle whether or not they used it all.

One thing I noticed when rewatching Dany's House of the Undying visions in the show is that the throne room appears to have been destroyed from above by dragonfire, like Harrenhal.

I made it to season 3 in my rewatch. Edmure just captured Martyn Lannister and the other boy, so I'm watching their first scene, and thinking, good god, Martyn could be Tommen's twin brother. So I looked him up on IMDb, and it IS Tommen. How did I not know that this guy played two roles? I know Martyn doesn't live long, but still. It's rather unusual for a major live action character to also play another role, unless they're supposed to be twins, or something like that.

He also played Hodor's penis in season one, using a forced perspective technique Peter Jackson developed for LOTR.

Before this goes any further, I use the internet the same way everyone else does. I spend 1/3 of the time looking at celeb penises, 1/3 of the time looking at celeb vaginas, and 1/3 of the time message-boarding about fantasy novels. I wouldn't think that reflects on my sexuality in any particular direction -- just as I wouldn't think so when using a hammer to nail a plank; all tools have their designated uses after all -- but at the same time I wouldn't be ashamed if it did.

Okay, now back on topic to the show: anyone else starting to think the Night's King is actually this fabled "cock merchant" we've been hearing about, and Hodor was his prey all along?

Glad somebody else got there!

Bit late this week, but I enjoyed this episode - I am however awaiting the moment Dany does something other than make epic speeches about doing something. The end of the episode where she burnt the Khals was fantastic, but it appears normal service has resumed for her story line, I've every faith it will get there, but I'm being impatient at this point.

Benjen - nice to have the actor back (can't recall his name, am a bad monkey) because he's terrific, and I can understand the show's decision even Coldhands =/= Benjen in the books. I'm interested to see where Bran's visions go from here and what else he sees before presumably ToJ reveal in episode ten.

I'm struggling with Arya's sections a bit. The play is fun, but it feels that the show has spent an awful long time arriving at the inevitable conclusion that Arya won't pass the test. Just personal preference again, but I find my attention wandering whenever the show reverts back to Arya (Maisie being brilliant aside).

The thing about Dany -- and it's not like I'm sick of her or think all her scenes have been turkeys -- is that she is by far the most untouchable character. She never feels at risk, and even Jon and Tyrion have at points. They've been damaged. So was Dany, early on, but it's all been rising for her since then. Everyone else has had a roller coaster, but her story feels like the very first part of the roller coaster where the cars are rising rising rising so slowly, and she's just been in that mode forever now. If the drop's gonna come, it better be a big one, with a few loop-the-loops thrown in for good measure. Or, you know, Strong Belwas.

Arya I'm mostly fine with, even though it's been one long training montage, but I think when you focus on Maisie's great performance you hit the nail on the head. Cuz the other character who should be tons of fun is Jaqen H'ghar. Instead he's become this taskmaster who's like the uptight taskmaster in one of those boarding school dramas. That's kinda hyperbole, cuz the actor playing him still has so much presence whenever he's on screen, but the character's tasks have been underwhelming (hopefully leading to something grander).

Jaqen H'ghar is eye candy for the ladies. And ear candy.

I just noticed on rewatch that the penis of Gilly's baby seems unusually large for a baby penis. I guess they just wanted to make sure we noticed it was a boy?

I do hope Jaquen will have some more to do this season, and I'm looking forward to the Waif/Arya showdown. Yay for the return of Needle!

Partly that's because some people don't watch it as soon as it comes out, and partly that's because there's a lot of stuff to discuss. We don't really get bored till about day 5 of the GOT week.

So, is there an army of "Coldhands" out in the wilds? Now that Jon has been brought back from the dead, will they become an honorguard for him?
“The others followed, and found themselves in a small, stuffy basement, which would have been damp, smelly, close, and dark, were it not, in fact, well-lit, which prevented it from being dark.”

I'm starting to feel like they made serious structural errors in how they arranged this season. Today's episode was pretty goddamn boring for the most part.

Is Arya dying? I barely passed anatomy, but you'd think the Waif would go for something vital. And what the hell is the Hound even doing? When did the Brotherhood start attacking random helpless people for a bit of food?

The waif probably was instructed to make it look good, rather than to kill Arya. This whole thing has been some sort of set up by the Faceless Men/the Bank.
I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.
