I don’t remember Perrin having a wife in the books though…

He doesn't. The series used the cheap fridging trope.

Watched the 4th episode, wow that was epic. We are both definitely in for this show. As neither of us know the books at all, some of the talk of characters not yet met or the philosophical/religious background to the orders of Aes Sedai etc are a bit beyond us but contextually it all mostly makes sense.

300% agree. Not sure he's ever been anyone's favourite character.

Is there a hammered dulcimer in every single tavern? If not, it's an instant boycott. I don't care about the rest but if every pub doesn't have a hammered dulcimer then it's an affront to Jordan's memory and to be sniffed, smoothed and tugged at vociferously.

He is, undoubtedly - but I never said it'd coz he's the best. It's because the character resonated the most as I read the books. Say what you will about what that says about me.

You now know of one person. Rand was my favorite from the very beginning for very personal, intimate reasons. Nynaeve became a close 2nd favorite eventually.

Oh man, imagine the show turns into a smash like GoT and they actually leave that one hanging.

Oh I get tingles thinking about the social media rage it would induce

Yesterday, upon the stair, I saw a man who wasn't there. He wasn't there again today. Oh, how I wish he'd go away.

Is this a spoiler free zone? I'm asking cause of Tiste's curiosity on Nynaeve being the Dragon Reborn.

As for favorite character: Mat for voice, and the Dragon Reborn for sheer fucking badassery lol.
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

I think it should be spoiler free and keep pace with the episodes. It's fun to see the speculation.

Yes I'm just guessing here but anything episode specific I'll put in spoiler tags in case people aren't up to date.

How many episodes will this first season entail? And what books in the series does it touch upon? I mean obvi, book 1, but does it hit any of the key scenes in later books?
