So Canada is pushing for a close associate tie to the EU, and man am I here for it. Though we can't be full members, a close associative relationship with less hoops for trade, and visas etc is a net good, as is if Erasmus is included for students. And of course Trump is having a fit.

I maintain that whoever the next Democrat president and admin is has a MONSTROUS hill of mea culpa's to climb to get even near our old relationship with the USA...the damage Trump has done is immeasurable but perhaps this was the kick in the pants we needed as a country to leave an abusive ex.

Our dependence on the US was significant and problematic and we needed it to end. If/when the madmen are out of power, we would be idiots to assume they will never be back and allow a return to that status quo.

There's a slight chance he might try to use frontier AI to launch cyberattacks against Canada. IDK if he'd theoretically be able to hack into some Canadian military asset to launch a false flag attack against the United States in order to justify military strikes---he probably won't try to invade Canada until he thinks he has enough of a robot army to maintain an occupation (at least of the regions with the natural resources he wants). But hopefully he'll drop dead first, or be otherwise neutralized.
