Bonnie and Parrish split the incumbent votes in the Sauga mayoral, so a relative newcomer, Alvin Tedjo got the mayor's job. I find this amusing.
He wants to focus on rapid bus lanes, which is can work for some areas, but the Dundas West in particular, I'm pretty sceptical about. TBQH, the existing Express buses from Oakville to Hurontario are quite fine, maybe up the frequency, but in terms of congestion, it's fine. it's the East side where the traffic is (mostly due to roadwork that's widening the street for the LRT). If you try to widen the west side to set up bus lanes, you'll just end up with way more traffic in the meantime.
Anyway, the pressing issue is City Centre, b/c the condos there keep popping up like mushrooms, and each one is +200 cars in the morning, give or take. None of the proposed bus lanes on the perimeter really solve this.
In Wasaga, the mayor was re-elected, but of his team (deputy and 4/5 council members), only 3 people were re-elected. New deputy mayor, one new councillor, and the one councillor who was outside the mayoral team got re-elected, so the decision-making should be more transparent now that there isn't an overwhelming majority deciding everything.
We also passed the proposal to switch to a ward system, with 52%. Given how the town is growing, and how disparate the parts of it are, this can only be a good thing.
The problem with the gene pool is that there's no lifeguard
