Wow, each of the four paragraphs of that post displays a separate discipline of the Smarmic Arts. There's Fake Helpful up top, followed by classic Passive Aggressiveness, then on to a straight up beefy slab of _______ For Dummies (you may recognize mansplaining as one sub-discipline), and finally a quick shot of Can You Believe These People? to close it out.

Pretty dang impressive.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

Yup. Eventually. Though if the purpose is to put a dent in the black market I'm not so sure how effective online delivery will be. Pay a delivery fee and wait a week versus go black market and get things the same day with no fee?

Yeah. The usual way these "rollouts" go is that the urban centres get them. Then there's a 2nd wave where the urban centres get more. Then there's a 3rd wave where the urban centres get more. Then there's a 4th wave where Timmins will get one store. Then there's a 5th wave where the urban centres will get more.

Milk is a dumb comparison. The brands are recognized and production is inspected and heavily regulated. You don't have the same established brands for pot. If anyone can sell it, they can sell it from everywhere. The easiest way to control it when it is brand new and prevent a gong show it to control distribution.

All you need to make milk is a cow, and yet we manage to inspect and regulate milk. I don't see why the same can't be done for weed.

So what if there aren't any brands yet? There very quickly will be, especially if you make a system of inspection and regulation so that sellers need to be branded companies in order to have the level of organization to meet the regulation requirements.

Let's face it - no one cares about the different brands of milk, and they probably all get their raw product from the same farmer boards anyways. Weed can be both perceived and run the same way.

Over time as it is legal longer, and you have established and licensed sources, and black market sources are out of business, it is easier to them look into allowing other places to sell it.

The LCBO and it's alcohol monopoly was established in 1927. How much diversification of the monopoly has happened since? "Over time" isn't very reassuring when it will take at least centuries.

as a further to the last point, many other provinces don't have 1-2 companies to sell commercial alcohol and it works fine. LCBO only recently (in the last few years) started caring about cider. Meanwhile ontario has been growing apples for how long??? How long has it taken to tap into this market at the commercial retail level? For the longest time if you wanted cider it either had to be imported or you had to find a farm with a license.

Our provincial goverment has a terrible record when it come to these sorts of things. Let the free market figure it out and regulate it as needed. It's not like our goverment doesn't know anything about inspection or regulation, or like we don't have a working business for this sort of thing (read any other substance/compound that can potentially be harmful).

Personally Im looking forward to if there's going to be an IPO on the first company to develop a weed testing machine for police usage.

Jordan Peterson believes and actively promotes the conspiracy theory that Cultural Marxism is a) a thing, and b ) an active force in the world in general and especially in academic circles. This is the conspiracy at the heart of Norway's worst terrorist attack and he can go fuck himself.

The only thing I know about "cultural marxism" is a hhomberguy video where hhomber points out (and makes fun of) its increased usage as a trendy/buzzword insult amongst a bunch of really stupid red-piller-esque YouTubers (you know, just like "cuck" or "soyboy" and other stupidity).

What's the deal with "cultural marxism" and its conspiracy(ies)?

In short, the conspiracy is that cultural marxists have infiltrated education, politics and the media with the nafarious goal of destroying western culture in favour of a multicultural, communist world state. Western culture is based on capitalism and individualism and therefore must be destroyed.

In Norway this conspiracy was focused on the Labour party, which has been the largest and most influential party in the country since the second world war. Breivik believed that the only way he could stop the cultural marxists from finalizing their plot was to destroy the party completely. Thus he placed bombs next to government buildings, and went on to murdered 69 kids at a labour party youth camp at the island of Utøya.

Not to mention that jews and freemasons always tend to pop up too. It's just another brand of neo nazi bullshit that's been seeping into the vernacular of more "mainstream" rightwingers in recent years. Before 2011 I don't think I had ever heard the phrase.

And Peterson spent years dancing around the ideas behind that, being vague and only mildly touching on it, and not REALLY endorsing it, so that he could more easily ingratiate himself not only into the faculty of one of Canada's biggest post-secondary Education establishments and with the student body he was teaching, and then over the last 10 years or so he revealed himself and started really hammering hard at notions about shit like cultural marxism.

To be quite honest, I'm still astonished that UofT hasn't sent him packing. It's not like he has tenure or anything, and he's a SUPER divisive figure amongst the faculty and Torontonians. What's even more maddening is that he spent his early years working at Harvard (of all places) and no one cottoned onto his schtick. Here is a guy who has basically been the teacher version of Breaking Bad, just swapping the drug lord aspect for dissident PolySci/Psychology rogue with a penchant for spreading lies and propaganda.

Wait i thought this cultural marxism stuff was straw manning stuff.

Read an article on macleans recently and it ticked off a few flags so i was kinda sceptical of it.

What is cultural marxism actually? and what about cultural marxism does this guy believe.

Also as a sidenote: I may be working in the weed industry, got an interview for an investment firm that has a weed portfolio.

Wow, that's not even a pseudo-plausible-at-first-glance conspiracy theory, that's just dumb. And there are terrorists believing it... yikes.

So how does Peterson fit in? In the couple interviews I've seen of him he's espoused a few weird (but mostly harmless) gender inequality beliefs but nothing like *that*. Any good links?

I hesitate to post this. The guy is a complete loon, the first five minutes alone should make that obvious, but he's a well spoken loon.

Loon isn't enough to describe Jordan Peterson.

He's delusional, he's absolutely wrong on every subject he brings up except psychology (where there are some theories that support his assertions), and he's an arrogant prick to top it off.

I cannot ever watch more than 2-3 minutes of his videos because this so called 'professor' seems to revel in asserting absolutely stupendous shit without providing the least level of evidence and then in his self-satisfied, smug, scummy way he uses those same BS claims to talk shit about people who he has no business talking shit about.

Edit: Case in fact, he talks about 'post-modernism' for 42 minutes and it's quite clear that he has absolutely no fucking clue what post-modernism is about. No clue. None. Zilch. If you ask my five-year-old nephew about post-modernism his answers would be more accurate. It's not possible to describe in words the level of hatred I have for this dumb piece of shit.

Okay, yeah, that's pretty crack-potty!

When he's saying that after the Soviet Union collapsed all the French socialist philosphers rebranded themselves as "cultural marxists" or whatever... I mean, sure, I know nothing about philosopher trends or histories or labels or whatever, so fine.

...and then he leaps from that straight to "somehow all these French philosophers infiltrated every Western government and are plotting a systematic undermining of western capitalist philosophy (whatever that is?)" ... wow, just wow.

Admitedly my background in post-modernism isn't the greatest. Fascinating subject but never took the class while in school. That being said, It a BS claim. Saying they rebranded themselves? What a piece of garbage.

Also if they have infiltrated goverment to undermine capitalism, they are a doing a really BAD job at doing it lol

I could only stand about 5 mins of that. He's claiming Derrida is the equivalent of the bogeyman to what capitalism is concerned....

Meanwhile, Derridas concept of deconstruct was originally used in literary contexts before growing to being a method of critiquing well... anything really. Capitalism yes, but not capitalism in particular. Moreso any construct that came about because of modernity which does include capitalism but includes everything else. (which also includes marxism as marxism is a reaction to another element of modernity)

I don't even know what Derridas is. All his bizarro crackpotting aside, when he said students aren't taught any of this stuff in high school... that bit I agree with 100% :)

I find that very strange. We certainly were here in Norway, and we're by all accounts a haven of Cultural Marxists.
