Too much Karen and Foggy, too much Kingpin's tragic love story, too much Matt existential angst, not nearly enough Daredevil doing Daredevilish stuff. The Punny addition was fun but didn't do anything to cut back all of that. By the end I was ff'ing more than watching.

I ack there are budget and production reasons why we can't get 44 minutes of Daredevil punching baddies, it's just what they gave us instead was basic tv soap drama 101 - and borderline completely separate from or irrelevant to Daredevil's story - and however great D'Onofrio is, it just doesn't hold my attention.

I dont disagree with any of that.

I think I enjoyed the Punisher parts enough the other stuff didn’t seem as bad.

Those Netflix marvel shows were weird. They all seemed to start really well and just be quite boring by the end of the season.

Like almost without fail.

Abyss covers the Daredevil stuff well but I always felt Fisk was the best part of the show.

Jessica Jones, similarly, had an incredible bad guy (thank you David Tennant!) but by the second half of the series I was just fed up with how whiny and dark and "edgy" she was. It was grating.

Luke Cage was one of the better ones but again he had a phenomenal bad guy - who they then killed off half way through and the series just got messy.

Iron Fist was just awful. I gave up on that collaborative show (Defenders?) about 2 episodes in and haven't watched any of the others since.

The potential for all of them to be incredible shows was there each time and they all just failed to meet it IMO.

Yeah, but just be aware that it's not great and could have been an episode of a Marvel TV show instead...but for Yelena and Red Guardian, it's a must watch.

Fuuuuuuuuuuuck......this show is SO GOOD. It feels very much like the Netflix DD show did, just less visually dark (from a cinematography POV)...the vibe is still that show and that's good because they had a good thing going...


Also, the most recent trailer with the Frank Castle dialogue overtop of it as narration....is fucking INTENSE.



Goddamn, Give me a scene with Daredevil, Punisher, and White Tiger taking on enemies together PLEASE. And shout out to Jon Bernthal for inhabiting The Punisher at a level like Hugh Jackman does Wolverine, making any other attempts that have been made or might be made on the character pale in comparison to his masterclass.

From that list most of marvel, which seems a bad idea.

Thor Films potentially Guardians of the Galaxy 3, Fantastic Four, Thunderbolts, Captain America films including the new one, Black Panther films, Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Shang-Chi, Black Widow, Loki tv series and a few Ant-Man films seems the obvious ones right now but may also include part of the X-men films Thats no more than 17+ films and 3 seasons of television I think.

Seems like they have wisely stayed away from those.

And I guess many of the names above will have limited roles making it doubtful that some of the more obscure characters really require a watch of some of the less good recent stuff.

What do people say about Brave New World which is the first captain film I've not rushed of to the cinema to see? I guess that one will be required watching with Anthony Mackies captain america likely leading the team?

Personally I'm hyped for how they will include the X-men hopefully leading the way for a reboot of that part of the franchise.

I think since Hemsworth name Is the first chair that it's Thor leading the team with Cap backing him up.

I have not seen the new Cap, but I want to...I'm just not rushing to see it any time soon. It dons't feel like it needs to be a theatre watch.

THUNDERBOLTS may not be "required" but it would probably help since they are all in this.

New Cap? By the time DOOMSDAY comes out next year you should be able to watch it on Disney+ or rent it cheap. I'm not rushing to see it.

SHANG-CHI, if you've not seen it is awesome. Felt a little like a Hong Kong Action flick with a decent amount of Chinese mysticism and Wuxia. It's one of my fave movies from Phase 4 (which didn't have a lot of truly great movies).


Aside from that, the rest of the cast seems to be Fantastic Four which hasn't dropped yet, and the Fox-era X-Men...but the musical cues were very much the X-Men 97' animated show as opposed to the music from the movies...and the deliberate inclusion of both Channing Tatum (Gambit in DP3), and Alan Cumming (Nightcrawler in X-2) would indicate that we may not be accessing the Fox universe X-Men, but rather a cobbled team that live action resembles the X-Men 97' team because Gambit and Nightcrawler are important members of that team....or they are just adding Tatum to the old Fox X-Men roster, which is also possible. Either way, watch X-Men 97' (which I mean, if you've not watched yet you should as it's awesome TV) and maybe re-watch X-2....cause it's the best of the old X-Men movies. My hope is that Rebecca Romjin as Mystique is not the stupid Bryan Singer-demanded naked lizard skin version, but rather the white dress and head necklace Mystique from the comics and animated content.
