I finally saw Deadpool Wolverine. Definitely a 10am Sunday morning movie. It's a little bit full of itself but it gets away with it. Mr Pigdog is no geek so a lot of the in jokes went over his head but he still enjoyed it. I'm sure I missed a few. I had been spoilered on most of the cameos by seeing it so late. The only one I wasn't spoilered on was the one with the accent. Oh my, I'm not sure what I made of that one but they at least got the action right with him. My favourite scene was the fight with You're The One That I Want as the soundtrack.
Anyway, just as we approached the big ending I thought "Wow, Wolverine has kept his clothes on this whole time". And then there it goes. He must be so dehydrated for those scenes. Do you think he would do another one? How much must he be able to demand in his contract?! Or has Cavill put his mark down?

Marvels answer to suicide squad?
Now yes. Originally in the comics it was a team of villains pretending to be heroes but that twist could only work once so the title evolved into villains trying to be heroes and then, effectively, at times a suicide squad rip. The movie seems to be going for the last iteration.

So DEADPOOL & WOLVERINE Was awesome...saw it in theatre opening day. REALLY loved it.
That said, I re-watched it with the wife (as she hadn't seen it), and it doesn't hold up after the cameos wear off as much as it did? Like Jackman is still incredible and Reynoolds is doing his thing, but the story is thinner without the cameos.
Not saying it's bad mind you...but I feel like there could have been more meat there for the re-watch.

Just watched it last night with the ole lady. I loved it , but i can definitely see how it wont hold up as well as the first 2.
And i'm all in on the Thunderbolts. Itll probably be underwhelming, but im excited.
I've always been crazy but its kept me from going insane.

Yeah, like I'm not trying to be unnecessarily harsh on it, but it's easy to see the cracks on re-watches. But as a singular watch? It's great.
And yeah the latest THUNDERBOLTS trailer sold the the fuck out of it to me. Cannot wait. Looks incredible.

Watched it the other night.
Really enjoyed it but I don't think it will hold up to a rewatch the way one or even two would.
I fully agree with the pool though, we are so sick of multiverse!

The funny thing is that if it had been executed correctly, the multiverse could have been compelling. It needed to be small incursions here and there. Characters showing up where they shouldn't be, but not mass incursions.
The BEST things Marvel made during the Multiverse saga have been LOKI (which is top 3 content of the entire MCU for me), and SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME (and even this was pushing what we should see in the multiverse so soon)
WANDAVISION was compelling but there were too many stupid fakeouts, and I will still never forgive them for not having Evan Peters play his ACTUAL Fox Quicksilver...Ralph Bohner was the biggest mistep fakeout in the entire MCU. You had a REALLY compelling thing you could do...Wanda from the MCU is struggling and knows her brother is dead in her universe, but she calls out to him anyway out of anguish and her powerful magic accidentally pulls the Fox Peitro/Peter/Quicksilver out of his universe and into the MCU...to the astonishment of all. Like that's incredible fodder for emotional narrative AND it's a tiny hole in the multiverse and a tiny incursion....would hav been perfect...but then the W/V writers decide on the rug pull instead. Boneheaded.
SHANG-CHI is solid and entertaining...but it's not really multiversal...so it's just a decent MCU movie, nothing more.
THE ETERNALS and FATWS are both largely trash.
DOCTOR STRANGE 2 is (as a MCU and multiverse movie) is a MESS....if it had been a standalone Sam Raimi action horror movie, it would have been fine...but as a mutiverse movie? Messier than DS 1. Rumour has it that they tried to get Tom Cruise as Iron Man in it, but failed, and the line up of alternate comic characters was cool, but it lasts 5 minutes and accomplishes nothing but show us how dangerous Wanda is...like hello, we just had a whole ass TV show showing us how dangerous Wanda is...
BP 2 was garbage. Instead of moving on and honouring Chadwick's legacy, they did a nearly 2hour mourning sesh of characters, and the rest of it was shot in murky underwater scenes that looked horrific next to AVATAR 2 which came out near it. And Shuri takes up the BP mantle for what? 15 minutes at the end. Trash.
MOON KNIGHT? Never watched it.
THOR 4 and SHE-HULK....my gods no, make it stop. Both of these were atrocious.
ANT-MAn 3 ....my eyes...save my eyes...how you fumble an Ant-Man movie is beyond me. LOKI S2 did more with Kang that was a million times more compelling in about 3 episodes than this movie did with him in 2.5hours. Awful.
MS MARVEL, a high point for the D+ shows...and that's on the back of the stellar cast just nailing it. Iman Vellani was incredible
GOTG3 is of course stunningly good. Not a hair out of place and a wonderful flick. No much multiverse here, but I'm not holding that against it.
THE MARVELS was not good. And in fact the only saving grace in it was Iman Vellani, she was an utter joy in all her scenes, everything else was questionable at best. Teyonah Paris did the best with what she was handed, but even she seemed to suffer under that subpar script. The post-credits scene with Beast from the Fox Universe was another reason why these little tiny incursion moments are the best.
SECRET INVASION....wheres the puke emoji?
DP & W: solid and fun on one viewing....none of the multiverse stuff in it aside form Wolverine and MAYBE Gambit will hold any water going forward though...so not much there for future.
So you've got all these movies in your multiverse saga and they mostly either don't really deal with the multiverse at all, or they go hard on it and it felt overstuffed. There's no nuance.
And between these and the end of that saga is only CAP 4, THUNDERBOLTS, and F4: FIRST STEPS....then we are into AVENGERS DOOMSDAY and AVENGERS SECRET WARS...
so it's strange to me...like there have been this many movies where you could tell a solid standalone story and then add in tidbits of multiverse shenanigans....like Beast and Quicksilver from the Fox Universe...or even the other Peters in the Spiderman movies. but there are a whole bunch that simply don't touch on anything to do with it. They ALL could have in minor ways.
Like even the good movies like GOTG3...the only mutliversal touch there is that the Gamora in that film is not the one that Peter fell in love with, but one who never went thought GOTG1 & 2 and Infinity War, so he's trying to remind her, right? But there's room for more there...something a bit more "WTF is happening"...like show us that yes the High Evolutionary is the baddie and all that and the stuff with kids that have been experimented...but the person who springs them is a cloaked individual who comes up and blows a hole in the room where they are kept and rips the bars apart with his powers..and as the kids run to escape and he follows at the rear to be sure they are safe we see his face....and it's Michael Fassbender's Magneto. Little stuff like that peppered throughout the multiverse saga should have been kept to every property and movie...and stuff like SPIDER-MAN NO WAY HOME should have been saved for closer to the end to show us how BAD the incursions are getting that this many people from other universes could show up.
Like there was a way to do this well...Marvel didn't do it.

Two things went sideways, i think...
1. initial response to the multiverse as a thing was wildly positive, triggering the usual Marvel tendency to double/triple/quadruple down on whatever works (the same way they do every time a crossover comic story gets some good buzz and they fast-track twelve more badly written poorly drawn floppies to sucker in the completists who STILL buy this crap, sigh); and,
2. geek writers/producers/directors were given near carte blanche to go all in on their childhood fantasy fanfics without a clear plan in place.
Some other stuff went wrong that couldn't be controlled. Boseman's death, Majors' fall... and there, well, i ack they were damned if they do/don't, but they really should have recast and moved forward, rather than adjusted on the fly, badly.... see above re 'without a plan'.
Ms Marvel/Iman Vellani is as good as you say and more, but she appeals to the wrong demographic to make serious dollars, and dropping her into THE MARVELS and trying to cross audience lines... wrong again. Also, bad script was bad. Not her fault.
Some of this is funny because the DC/Warner mess is right there as a shining example of what NOT to do, how not to handle this, and why a plan is necessary, and naturally in the face of more/faster money, Marvel shoots themselves in the adamantium laced foot, . Speaking of adamantium, watch now as they try to take advantage of the buzz around DnW, badly.
I remain sceptical/cautiously optimistic about the latest effort to monetize the FF. AVENGERS DOOMSDAY screams 'we're skipping directly to the big Endgame movie wheeEEEeeee give us your money'. Anything XMEN related just seems like flailing... XMAS97 was a surprisingly solid effort so far but very niche and not at all what they need to do to make a movie series succeed (see again 'plan').
