He's caught fire the last few years. He's reached 'A-list' status now and I imagine is in high demand when producers of upcoming projects are in the casting process.

AVENGERS: ENDGAME came out digital yesterday, so my pre-order popped up and the wife and I re-watched all 3 glorious hours of it. Still fantastic!

And the emotional stuff throughout still rips me to shreds.

And "On Your Left" portals scene is still phenomenal.

Oh, and Cap's fucking arm is broken before the portal sequence after he's beaten down by Thanos (you can see the blade gouge in his suit and the exposed broken bone)...and he still gets up and straps it tighter...fuuuuuuuuuck.

I had just rewatched WINTER SOLDIER (among other things Marvel)... i can't even explain the sheer surge of joy i had at that line.

...and then it got all dusty in the theater.






I don't know whether they had that ENDGAME scene in mind back in WINTER, or they wrote it into END for the first time and then jumped up and down screaming gleefully, but either way... wow.

I have to say the one point of that fight which bugs me, which is otherwise fantastic, is when thano is getting crushed by Scarlet Witch he orders Corvus Glaive to Rain fire. Corvus responds 'but sire, our troops' to which Thanos responds 'Do it'. This is such a cliché. Whenever you want someone to come across as iritrivably selfish and evil you have him fire on his own troops. Except this isn't Edward longshanks ordering his archers to fire into a melee, this is an advanced insterstellar spaceship. I would think it can target fairly accurately. Not to mention in Infinity war we see how Corvus Glaive uses his troops, I don't think they give a thought to the rank and file. The whole sequence just seems off to me.

Now I don't want to come across as nitpicky, that would be asking why the ship didn't fire on the portals and decimate the Avengers as they come out of a choke point. Its a great action movie and I loved it but I don't think we needed to be reminded how evil thanos was or how dangerous. I mean he was gonna snap them all out of existence anyway.

I also wish, on a rewatch I realise how short the battle actually is and how much movie still comes afterwards, that they gave the villians some more respect and a chance to shine too; Black dwarf gets shanked by Drax and stomped on by giant man but in Infinity War this guy could challenge the hulk and beat down Iron man, Ebony Maw captures Black panther for all of two seconds and then we never see him do anything again, Proxima midnight did.... Maybe too many big key battles would have lessened the impact of the battle around thanos but they went from being a team of villians who were a match for the Avengers to cannon fodder

Also during my rewatch I wish the Asgardians also had a moment of glory. They lost Asgard, they lost 90% of their population even with the snap undone and Thor has not been treating them well in the past five years. We have only really ever seen the Asgardian army fight Hella and it didn't work out well for them. I wish they had a moment of glory where we get to see the shieldwall of 100 Asgardians just stop a charge by the Chitari dead cold or something. I feel like the Asgardians deserve a moment. Its a comic, its about fantasy wish fulfillment. I understand why they didn't but its also kinda shocking that Thor never thinks to use the stones to return his people to life or restore Asgard. Its amazing that Asgardians showed up to the fight at all.

The point of this is one of a few small moments where you see the Thanos of 2014, and not the Thanos of 2018/post-IW has his game ramped to 11 early. He doesn't have to sacrifice either daughter, he hasn't lost the Black Order, and his goal of the Snap is still in the future...but these pesky heroes from this pitiful world earth are throwing wrinkles into his plans...so he gets angry, petty, and spiteful. He even has dialogue that expresses that he is going to be extra brutal to earth because these people have served to piss him off. So yeah, it's selfish...but that's the point I think. To show that 2014 Thanos is not 2018 Thanos.


Now I don't want to come across as nitpicky, that would be asking why the ship didn't fire on the portals and decimate the Avengers as they come out of a choke point. Its a great action movie and I loved it but I don't think we needed to be reminded how evil thanos was or how dangerous. I mean he was gonna snap them all out of existence anyway.

This ties into what I said above. Thanos is not the kind of guy to use blind space cannons to "nuke the site from orbit" as it were...he's strong enough, and his Black Order is strong enough to challenge human superheroes. You gotta understand that Thanos, if noting else, is vain. He really believes all his own press. He believes he is righteous. He believes that he can't lose. He believes (if you'll pardon the use of the actual dialogue) that he is "inevitable". As such, it's not until he is challenged with one of the singularly STRONGEST and most powerful Avengers (Wanda) that he realizes that he MIGHT just need the help if he's to succeed. His vanity disallows him from calling the ship strike until he's on the backfoot. Because that would show weakness and he won't do that unless absolutely necessary.

I also wish, on a rewatch I realise how short the battle actually is and how much movie still comes afterwards, that they gave the villians some more respect and a chance to shine too; Black dwarf gets shanked by Drax and stomped on by giant man but in Infinity War this guy could challenge the hulk and beat down Iron man, Ebony Maw captures Black panther for all of two seconds and then we never see him do anything again, Proxima midnight did.... Maybe too many big key battles would have lessened the impact of the battle around thanos but they went from being a team of villians who were a match for the Avengers to cannon fodder

These people got their moment in INFINITY WAR, man. Every single Black Order got PLENTY of screen time and deaths/respect in that film. That's why they are treated so minimalistically here, because we already had a whole 1.5 hours of them in IW doing their thing and either dying, or being bested. It serves no narrative purpose to give them more screen time when we know what they are about. Thanos and the Snap are the point of the portal fight, not the Black Order.

Also during my rewatch I wish the Asgardians also had a moment of glory. They lost Asgard, they lost 90% of their population even with the snap undone and Thor has not been treating them well in the past five years. We have only really ever seen the Asgardian army fight Hella and it didn't work out well for them. As to Thor using the stones to restore Asgard. That's not cricket since they didn't die from the Snap. They legit died before it and Asgard itself is gone. As such where you going to house a planet amount of refugees? It's not remotely a plausible thing to do. And who knows what effect it might have on the new timeline branch. As Tony said, "time fights back".

- I had this thought too, but back in Ragnarok more or less ALL of Asgard's warriors died. Anyone left were likely taken out by Thanos. What was left were a bunch of Asgardians 'civilians'who, sure, can all swing a sword and defend themselves, but not shield-wall up and throw down epic style, as cool as that would have been.

Nico is incorrect.

Galactus (And the FF and X-Men) were Fox, which Disney now owns.

Sony only owns Spider-Man and some of his periphery characters (Venom, Black Cat).

So yeah, Doom and Galactus will be major villain players in the next MCU phase.

If they do Galactus I think it's a shame that they didn't do more cosmic foreshadowing during the Thanos story. Have a herald show up, make references to the eater of planets being the ultimate balance, yadda yadda.

Oh man, you could have the Chitauri/Skrull's from the first Avengers film get their homeworld consumed, refugees arriving in our solar system creating strife but foreshadowing what comes next. Use this to pull in Captain Marvel and the Kree. Nova Corps. Guardians of the Galaxy, etc.
