Amos is great! In some of the discussions around the show, Wes Chatham and the writers have talked about why he follows Naomi, he knows he has no moral compass, but she does; so he trusts her to guide him to not being a horrible person. And his evolution is great, particularly going his backstory in Season 5. Amos is probably my favorite character in the show.
I really enjoyed watching the show, then reading the books. I think they helped expand the story. There are differences, but not huge ones (and they were often done because actors did such a great job they had to keep them (the guy who plays Errinwright, and Cara Gee (Drummer) in particular)).

That's weird, in the short story book (MEMORY'S LEGION) in the afterword of the Amos-backstory CHURN, the authors claim it was why he follows Holden, not Naomi. Which makes more sense since Naomi has often done the wrong thing at the expense of others in her Belter past, but James Holden's conscience keeps him making the right ones.

Half way into season 2
Think I'm in it for the long.
Holders an equally good and whiney batch character.
Amos is so fascinating and well.portrayed. like he knows he's funked up. But keeps following his own code as best he can. Hurt me or my friends, I will hurt you

I was trying not to spoil anything, it does switch in the show after a certain point due to Naomi's actions. (I don't know how the spoiler tag works, so I left it out.)

Just finished season 5
Man that death was a kicker, someone who.slowly evolved into my second favourite character after the simply bananas broken but so well portrayed Amos.
The hard vacuum episode was brutal to watch, the pain and despair was well-done
