Seems they're going in an entirely different direction with Avasrala. As BK says, they probably couldn't have her calling everybody a cocksucker and saying fuck 10 times every minute, but I figure they could have still kept her snarky and sarcastic? Haven't seen any of that so far (and unlike Holden and co., I don't really foresee her having an opportunity to "grow into it").
Which is not necessarily a bad difference, but for book readers I imagine it'll be a bit sad to not get that version of her.

Possibly.
On some level i think they felt like they needed more than two white guys as their leads, and adding her now may give even more kick to her plotlines from bk 2.
Also, perhaps a cynical point, but they can use her plotline as filler or exposition whenever they need it without fear of messing with the book's elements unnecessarily.

HOLY FUCK!! I had no idea this was out. I haven't been this exited since I watched the movie Serenity then found out there was a tv show called Firefly.

I've now watched the first 4 episodes; I'm impressed. I'm so glad that they're doing the books justice. I was worried they'd fuck it up but they haven't at all thus far. I'm just hoping it doesn't get cancelled before it becomes fully appreciated like Firefly. Also, they've been running the Magicians ads through the show. Really hoping it's a hit and it convinces scyfy and other channels to start making shows out of our favorite books (or at least mine).

New ep tonight! Excited!!!!
Nah. They needed to build to the Donnager and i thought they did a nice job of it. Now we're there and the book fans can get appropriately psyched.
That said, people keep forgetting the Roci doesn't show up until almost a third of the way into WAKES and we don't even see what she can do til later than that, arguably not even in WAKES. I don't think they even named her until almost the end of the book.
I keep seeing book fans who read the books a while ago jumping ahead of the story and expecting Amos to kick ass, Alex to be this hotshot pilot and the Roci to just wipe shit out, and forgetting that most of that is developed way late in WAKES and only really kicks off in WAR and GATE.
Bugger.
Spoof your IP and watch it on SPACE or SYFY.

I'm super stoked I didn't watch 3-4 early. Ep 4 is great. Nice send off for some one lol....
However getting to the Roci has taken way to long imo episode wise.

I have to disagree, the Donnager episode was intense and well worth the time it took.
Screw you all, and have a nice day!

Yeah, I always got the Alex-As-Hotshot-Pilot vibe in LW, from early early on.
I'm still heavily disliking the Amos we are getting on the show. As D'rek mentions they are doing him differently. Taking him from asshole and backing him up (albeit very slowly) into what I HOPE will, be the Amos we know from the books. Right now I don't like him at all.

As someone with no familiarity with the books: This show rocks. I enjoy the 'realistic' Sci-fi take. Look forward to more, when will start up again.

Decent ep. A bit quieter after the Donnager ep but i enjoyed them getting to know the Tachi (coffee machine!!!), and Miller's plot is moving along. I like this version of Havelock, he's less whiny than in the book.

Yeah, Miller's plot is really starting to click along now.
And the Roci crew is starting to act more like they do in the books.
I think ep 4 is where things started to finally click for me.

I think that's our first nod at the Protomolecule doing its work. Not sure though.
Also, did anyone else note the Terry Pratchett nod/tribute? I forget what part it occurred in, but someone said "Monstrous Regiment" and my ears perked up knowing it to be a nod towards the passed away author.

I assumed that was to make a point about Belters.

Pratchett was quoting a famous polemical against women in that title, it's a fairly famous tract I doubt it was referencing him directly.
Just started this, excellent so far but some of the belter scenes are a bit difficult to follow with the patois they use.
