So have we all accepted Twelve as first place? Next round I am going to Try and hurt Twelve all I can. You are in a good position, just like me, not as good as Twelve but mutual fighting against him from all of us can knock him down a peg surely?
Mutual supported fighting can knock him down a peg, but what's in it for me? Perhaps with a combined effort it will be enough for you to overtake him, but not for me.
And certainly not enough for me to overtake him
and you. So why would I invest in it and forgo other opportunities?
Pointswise, I am extremely stagnant and have been for the past 3 rounds. If I invade the nice hex that Twelve gained through gunboat diplomacy, I get 3 pts and some resources which I will then need to invest into that hex (meaning starbase research, probably). I lose 2 VP and a cube from the traitor card in response and have a guy next door who can build a fleet from scratch to contain me further. Wooptidoo.
I would have gained more if the plan came together a couple of rounds ago. I advised you to attack then, and probably would have joined the attack if it would have been strong enough to seriously stretch Twelve's resources and give me a chance at expansion. You didn't attack then, D'rek turned her back as well, but in fact you went and made war against Gnaw and then made a stupid "treaty" that predictably got fucked over as soon as it suited Twelve,
because there was way more profit for him in betrayal than in keeping it AND breaking it was a better means of keeping control over you than honoring it.
In effect, twice you allowed Twelve to strengthen his position.
Don't come knocking on my door when the situation is of your own making and trying to play on my conscience. Heck, I could just as well ask him to depopulate and deinfluence 105 and allow me control over it if I leave him alone. The gain for me would be better (2 pts, fewer actions) and he doesn't have to spend discs and resources on building a containment fleet.
