CF,

Tapper's blueprint is missing a drive on the cruiser. Didn't he upgrade with two drives and one positron comptuer?
I don't know what I'm doing but it sounds good.

Right sorry about that!

Erm, I still can't see the board.
When I un-spoiler, there's nothing there.

It's really frustrating, because yesterday I went online with my good ladies phone, a galaxy s3.
Guess what? It was there, and pixel perfect too. When I saved the image, I could zoom in and read every little thing. It was fantastic.
Then I whatsapped it to myself and it was shifty res, worse then when I normally view from my phone. I guess the 'S' in 4S stands for Shite.

So GC I guess the answer to your question is this. Yes I have seen the board.
But I still can't get the board.

No one is safe. I now know I won't win so I'm going to be unpredictable

So halfway into the game the player in 2nd place decides he is "going to be unpredictable" and no longer try to win? That's kinda not the point, you know...

Tell me about it. He made one bad move that isn't likely to cost him anything and he is all woe is me!!!!! I'm in a great position to win the game so now I'm going to go all suicidal for the second game in a row. Boo Hoo!!!!!

Love ya Tatts but seriously that's a bit over dramatic don't ya think? It's not like you lost both of your Dreads in a fight you expected to win (Which you dodged this game once already). You are fine. Just use another influence action or bankrupt those hexes this round if you really don't want those hexes and don't rush your decisions next time just for the sake of moving the game forward. We aren't going to finish this before Halloween the rate we are going so another day won't matter in the grand scheme of things.

You are in the best position to win the game. I think D'rek wants to push me against you but I have run many simultations and currently I will not win a fight against you and I do not have the production to back up losing my dreads. I was thinking of other ways to try for VP's but we do have to take you down at some point, thing is D'rek going for Morgoth after him proposing an alliance is more selfish of D'rek so she must see a way to win without cutting you down to size, and I think that is through Morgoth and then maybe towards my territories. Building up her production in the meantime, so for me to have a good chance going forward what do I need to do? Cut D'rek down some? Suicide against you? Punch CF in the face? I have many options but little economy this round and little production for next round if I lose my Dreads. So it looks as though D'rek wants me to lose my dreads in a fight against you, then I'll be easy pickings with my 7 materials. Yet I am thinking of pinning both your dreads where they are, you won't want to waste all your starbases in that hex and leave the GC like it is. My two dreads against your two dreads I'll come out on top. It just depends on what else you want to throw into the fight.

CF why the fuck aren't you hitting his undefended hexes? Just trim down his science production.

And this is why this whole plan 'of taking him down' won't succeed right now.

First off, taking Twelve down would have to be done by the powerful players who would lose (some of) the investments that made them powerful: their ships and actions.
Second, the lesser powers that are would want Twelve properly tied up before they invade his hexes. They'd then quickly snatch up the undefended stuff, increasing their own power base for next to no cost, while the big fish would stand to lose some AND would be left with fewer gains.

It is all fine and dandy to take Twelve down a peg and open up a chance to win. But if doing so cripples your own chances or allows those you're beating to get up again and challenge you, then it is not a choice you want to make. In that sense, we're not altruistic but opportunists, each and every one of us.

Finally, there's 14 unused materials in Twelve's stock. That's 4 starbases or 2 cruisers and something else that can be plopped down opposite anyone who wants to hit an 'undefended' hex.

This is where the alliance system might have shined, really. Maybe it would have lead to Twelve and D'rek allying in a mega-military alliance, but other than that, there would have been more of an incentive to attack him and more ways to do so, as well, since one can travel through allied territory. Basically, losses by 1 would be offset by the gains for another, or we'd just pounce on Twelve's partner, since they average their respective points.

He'd be silly to plop 4 starbases down anywhere but the GC, that should free up places of attack, I don't think he'd mind losing the smaller hexes as much as the 3 bigger ones he has, CF could have started something this round by going after the smaller hexes. Are you staying non violent this round Tapper? Is your path to victory somehow blocked by Twelve's power or Solid's arms race?

@Twelve - fixed tappers drive. Forgot he can upg 3 things and read his post too quick.

@Tats - do not give up and go all squirrely. That's just annoying. Play to win. Take out me or go after D'rek while she's tied up. It's the sensible thing to do so that you make yourself more powerful and gain VPs from combat. Twelve is right too. Just influence the things you want and burn enough upkeep that you're forced to bankrupt the hexes you don't want. It won't leave you with hoards of excess money, but it will make sure you're better positioned for next round. And d'rek's entire fleet is tied up right now with morgoth and she can at most field a cruiser or stabase to stop you. It might be in your interest to try something like that to keep morgoth in the game as a distraction to her.

@Me

diplo with tats - thanks for accepting. Place a moneycube

Really wondering what to do...I see now nobody is going to try for a concerted effort v. twelve and I was probably going to betray everybody anyway (or was I?), so just as well I can regroup this turn. I want to re-influence zeta draconis. Also wondering what tech suits me best this round. I'd like to grab the fusion source so that I can put plasma cannons back on my interceptors, but the idea of advanced mining appeals to me as well.

Hmmm......fuck it

Influence zeta draconis, colonize moneyplanet, flip 2 colony ships, colonize scienceplanet.

@GP

Why the fuck am I not hitting his hexes? Are you serious?

Because nobody else moved in to pin any of his ships and he can build a huge fleet in the space of 3 rounds. Plus I have diplo with him, plus I have no hope of winning against even a pair of his starbases (much less his dreads or cruisers).

Why are YOU not hitting his undefended hexes...or even his defended ones? You're the only one with the tech to really take down any of his shit.

You think he'd build to go after you when I can step in on him? No way am I taking the first plunge. You and Tapper both have the best access into his territory

um...right beside the GC doesn't count as good access??

EDIT

ANd the idea is we all need to agree to do it in sequence, but nobody is willing (or at least not overtly saying that they're willing) so whatever.

Tapper's assessment is right. What can I possibly hope to gain acting alone? The powerful players will have to lead this one and direct less powerful players to strategic locations. Unfortunately you're a powerful player and therefore you need to take the lead.

Ah!!! Glad to see everything is good and right with the worlds. Though there isn't nearly enough groveling at my feet begging for mercy nor has there been enough petitions for our favor. Just as well few our worthy of our favor. But I might grant favor if it amuses me.
I don't know what I'm doing but it sounds good.

Boom chicka bow wow.

INFLUENCE Delta Eridani and Epsilon Hydrae. Colonise materials, advanced materials, and science slots at Epsilon Hydrae. Flip two colony ships. Colonise science planet at Delta Eridani.
