Oooh no, I like divergent opinions! Discussion time! What was it that you disliked so about FoD? I disliked the "revelations" that blatantly clashed with the original series

ie: IMO, everything about Brood's tough decisions as a mortal entrusted with the will of Burn in MoI is invalidated by him being an eons-old immortal Azathanai who can now rebuild the civilization he would destroy himself however he wants.

and I disliked how the world-weary cynicism of the Andii from GotM/MoI/TtH that was deliberately and directly stated in MBotF to be majorly due to how long they had all lived was completely unchanged with the young FoD Andii, which not only works against all the sympathy they generate in the MBotF novels but also made FoD, IMO, less enjoyable because it was so much more ennui, truly pointlessly this time, instead of being something different from the Tiste and T'lan ennui of MBotF.

That was why I disliked it. Then the saturation of gratuitous rape and murder disgusted me until I was skipping sections to avoid them and I never wanted to read it again.

I agree with your spoiler, that rang false to me as well. Another part which felt hollow to me was

Where Anomander breaks from Andarist after they find Enesdia dead. The whole conversation felt so stilted and the decision felt forced and artificial in the extreme. I think SE dropped the ball there.

. I would say that it wasn't so much that the Tiste as a people were full of ennui as most of the characters the book focused on were. I have to agree that they were a miserable lot. But for me that matched where the book was set, with no one quite knowing what their new place in the world was after the events just before the book.

But I have to agree on the overly gratuitous violence. It sometimes felt like SE was just trying to one-up himself from previous books.

That's not remaining techs, nor it it updated. No time for updating that all the time.

The distribution of techs is outlined in the rules. You can get a good estimate for what's left by looking at that and the latest board update.

I noticed on the latest update that Tapper's colony ships are all overturned. I don't think he has colonized anytihng this round yet but I may be mistaken. Also you didn't mark that I've done three actions this round. My current upkeep should be -7 and my board should have 2 upgrade actions instead of one.

Also, D'rek might want to check the money planets on the map are colonized correctly and to double check if her income is correct. I thought that she stated that some of those adv money planets especially on her homeworld should be populated.
