Not sure if this has been said already, but latest from Amazon.co.uk is that the release date for 'Assail' is now 27 March 2014...which makes 2013 the first entirely Malazan-free year for almost a decade :)


Explains why the sites alot quieter recently.

I wouldn't put a ton of stock in that; the entry for BaB reads identically. Not to say I wouldn't be ecstatic if he was.

Unlikely given hes an entity of great power. While its possible hes had a boost since TTH its unlikely. More likely to be Orchid or an unknown

The US release was in May 2013, but it's been available elsewhere since November 2012.

Methinks that Kyle and Osserc will make appearances as well. Both authors live Oponns little games and chosen mortals. Jaghut tyrants possessing humans? Hmmmm. Methinks Jaghuts would be recognized by the Forkrul Assail very easily...and last time I checked, they have only slaves, not partners. Also, Jaghut despise Forkrul 'justice', as seen by the appearance of Hood & Company in TCG. I would not be surprise if Kallor makes an appearance as well. There are so many possibilities but ICE has severe limits (regarding ambitious writing) compared to SE, so I don't expect too much. Oh ya! Maybe Morgora and Iskaral will show up! That would be cool. Then his donkey can kick Calm in the face.

Is there a character wish list for this book anywhere?




Its been a while since I've read any Malazan, starting to get the wriggles (like the shivers but warmer) I'm hoping for a few more familiar faces from MBOTF. Anyone else got needs, wishes desires on who they want in?

There better be some god damn info dumps on the history of Assail or I will be pissed.

Also if we don't see Silverfox a plenty in this book I will be terribly vexed.

Terribly Vexed reminds me of HBOs Rome which is a belter of a series.

In other news yes I expect alot of loose ends to be tied up.

I give not a shiny shite whether these are infodumps, witty insightful character dialogue or simply ICE writing notes in the fucking back addressed to me personally. After Blood and Bones fucking question dodging and the wank resolution to the split with the Guard with no fuckers motivation being explained and every other POV ending with Kazz looking old yet wistfully into the distance while Shimmer wonders what people are upto.

Blood and Bone is the only Malaz book I cant bring myself to reread.

Not a lot of Ascendants, Gods or other known power players in the Dramatis Personae. I wonder if some new powers will be introduced that are native to Assail.

I don't see the Dramatis Personae on the page the link takes you to
