Indeed, and Filoni is on record as having Ahsoka spending time in this series reckoning with the fact that when she walked away from the Jedi and Anakin, she was walking away from those teachings...but while that may have been the best choice in the moment...that the Jedi are not just what she saw in them in the prequels when she walked away....that there is more there, if she's willing to see it, and that may be why she was not the best Master and Sabine (who was always SUPER headstrong) was not a great student. The baggage from both would be immense. And this further explains why Ahsoka refuses to train Grogu and fobs him off onto Luke instead.

I feel like this series is setting up Ahsoka training a new type of Jedi in this new unrealized part of space in ways that avoid the pitfalls of her predecessors....but first she has to come to terms with what that will make her and her students.

At any rate, like you Ahsoka is my fave Star Wars character (aside from Obi-Wan), so I have high hopes that it will be done right.

It's easy to fold Ahsoka into the REBELS cast but she was a late arrival and never part of the core crew. Sabine, especially end of series semi-mature Darksaber carrying lost people she cared about has led Mandalorians into battle Sabine, would NOT easily slide into an apprentice role, even if they both thought the formality for training was a good idea.

I'm excited about the series. It's not one i thought we would ever see, in a format i expected even less.

- They nicely and unobtrusively filled in the 5 year gap during which Ahsoka trained Sabine as a Jedi, and I'm glad they found their way back to that at the end of the second ep.
- I need the backstory on how Ahsoka came across, and befriended Huyang....he's an IMPORTANT droid to have on her side.
- Hera was solid, but I feel like Mary Elizabeth Winstead isn't QUITE capturing the gravitas that Vanessa Marshall brought to the voice role...still I'll give her time. She definitely still has that "mama of there group" vibe.
- Also speaking of Hera, WHERE IS JACEN SYNDULLA?! I need me some KananHera Jedi offspring please!
- Natasha Liu Bordizzo's portrayal as Sabine on the other hand was EXQUISITE. Note fucking perfect. Man, she's a great character to enjoy. Her running from the security runners and escaping them to the begrudging nod of respect from the one pilot? Chefs kiss.
- Chopper showing up and being his typical psychopathic self was awesome. "Why can't we just down the ship?" "Because the port is full of innocent people"....."So?"...NEVER CHANGE CHOPPER!
- Baylan and Shin were both really well done and I like the fact that Baylan is a Jedi who went into hiding after the Clone Wars and ended up bad, and gained an apprentice along the way.
- Did we know in that one episode of the Mandalorian where Ahsoka fought Morgan that Morgan was a Nightsister? That's....hella cool. It also explains why her people would be the ones with a map out of this galaxy and into a foreign and unexplored one. That nicely dovetails with what we know since the Nightsister society is so ancient.
- Seeing the end of the 2nd episode be the live action version of the "5 years later" ending scene of REBELS? Brother, is that tears in my eyes?!
- The first episode having a crawl (NOICE!), and then an establishing shot of a ship going by in space, and then the arrival of two (former) Jedi aboard that ship, echoing the opening of The Phantom Menace? Filoni you dawg!
- Ahsoka intro also had some decidedly Indiana Jones affectations about it with her searching and ancient Dathomiri Witch temple for a map. Very cool.
- The fight between Shin and Sabine was a nice way to convey that Sabine is no slouch and that at the very least she was taught the swordsmanship well enough to hold her own against another force user.
- The fight Ahsoka has with the (Inquisitor? Or just someone with an Inquisitor blade?) was nice because she made it look super effortless and in the end they had to run to get away from her....and we have to wonder who that is. The mask is intentional I think to hide the face. There's a part of me that REALLY REALLY wants it to be Barris Offee...canon believes she was killed in Order 66 on Felucia...but there's no proof and Filoni said he has plans for her...so yeah, I could eASILY see that helmeted person being Barris. Working with other dissident Jedi? Yeah that fits. It also makes Ahsoka's "I run from things, I ran from Anakin and the Jedi, and then I ran from Sabine" arc that she's starting up have a real antagonist to challenge her....as the event surrounding Barris were the catalyst for why she ran from the Jedi and Anakin. It would work.
- Excited to see Thawn and Ezra!
- I want a Freddie Prinze Jr. Kanan force ghost! YES I'M ASKING FOR THINGS, DON'T BOTHER ME!
- We know Hayden is in this as Anakin....do we think that will be in a flashback, or as a force ghost finally appearing to Ahsoka. Im admit I want the latter...I NEED a scene where Ahsoka and Anakin meet again as friends. I need her to see he made it. I need him to call her Snips one more time.
-and the whole first ep being dedicated to Ray was nice. I wonder what happens to Baylan this season to explain his absence going forward.

I'm just going to say it....this feels more like the Sequel to the OT than the ACTUAL sequels do. This takes things we know and expands them into new pathways and ideas and doesn't retread ANYTHING...and is not just a rehash of the OT. HEIR TO THE EMPIRE baby!

Totally agree on almost every point. I wasn't totally sold until the final 10 minutes of Ep 2 but that sealed the deal for me, I'm in.

The Sabine hair cutting ceremony, such a throwback to Kanan's hair cutting and shaving, right down to the helmet in front of her (Kanan's mask) picking up and holding the knife the exact same way...yeah, I teared up. I do wonder how she knew that and I'm now envisioning Sabine peeking into the cave at what he was doing as they built the gliders just outside from that ep of Rebels... Slightly annoying that everybody seemingly survives a lightsaber through the middle now, but, shrug. Totally agree about: where is Jacen??? We see his Mom plenty. How old will he be now? The Loth cat was awesome! I do wish it wasn't quite as domesticated as to eat "cat food". I kinda feel like Loth cats oughtta be wild enough to still hunt they're own food? They'd better make Loth cat merchandise! Agree that Hera is the farthest from her animated version but I like M.E.W. as an actress and I think she'll improve the transition. Her interplay with Chopper as they pursued that ship with the hyperdrive had me laughing so hard! "And don't miss this time!" "I never miss!" LMFAO!

Required watching would be THE CLONE WARS and REBELS, and S2 of Mando.

fuck me, Episode 4 of AHSOKA was next Level!

- Ahsoka VS Marrock was a great fight, and showcased how much she's grown as a swords person since the clone wars...it also means Marrock was no-one...and possibly a resurrected inquisitor by Nightsister magic.
- Sabine VS Shin was great too a Sabine was still outmatched, but not by much.
- Huyang VS another droid? Droid boxing? Amaze.
- Ahsoka VS Baylan was an exquisite samurai-like fight and I loved it.
- Baylan is fascinating. He's essentially Qui-Gon's mirror...or perhaps a slightly less mad Dooku....he has all the tenets of a Jedi of Qui-Gon's ilk, just in service to a darker goal. His sticking to his word after telling Sabine he would take her to Ezra was the turning point in that...and Shin is 100% going to fall to the dark side and that's going to piss Baylan off as I think he very much has no interest in the dark side as it were.
- Wait....The World Between Worlds in live action?! Wait, Anakin?!? And he said the thing !? (SNIPS!) Wait, Vader theme plays?!....AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!

Cannot wait for the next episode!

- Anakin flashing as Vader in the smoke? Holy shit. Amazeballs.
-"I won't fight you." "I've heard that before"....holy shit, this is Anakin force ghost post-ROTJ....he's referring to Luke's convo with him on the second Death Star.
- Ahsoka the White! Oh my gods, the change in Rosario after her time with Anakin FG in the WBW is PALPABLE. Prior to that she was a shadow of herself (episode title Shadow Warrior....apt), always pulling back and feeling like if she acts as she always had before that she would end up like Anakin....but she proved to herself when her eyes briefly turned Sith with the red saber in front of them and she rejected that path and chose to live. Even her role as Master to Sabine's apprentice was filtered through her trauma with Anakin's turn. She kept pulling back on letting Sabine be who she is, even if that's what she claimed to want....she didn't really SEE it till she had her "final" training with Anakin. She gets it now. Hence the demeanour and outfit change to lighter. Her reaction to Huyang asking if she though this would work being "who knows?" was the Ashoka we all remember from the Clone Wars.
- Ahsoka as she's existed since REBELS S2/4 (after her fight with Vader there) would NEVER have force-contacted a space whale and stepped inside it's mouth to jump to a foreign galaxy....but Ahsoka the White knows that Anakin's often batshit plans had a way of working out. The whole sequence with the sun, the white puffy clouds, and her outfit...it was all as light sided as she could be. She wasn't a Master before, even if people called her one....she is now. She gets it. I never would have imagined that someone like Ahsoka could STILL get growth as a character, but here we are and I'm grinning from ear to ear. Note even her arm-bands, gloves ect. are white now, and head headpiece was different from the one she's worn since the Clone Wars, it's solid band with a flower shape in the centre of her forehead.
- Jacen can sense the WBW and Ashoka and Anakin! Huyang: "Jacen has abilities, his father Kanan Jarrus, was a Jedi."AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH Kanan mention! Jacen is strongly force sensitive! AHHHHHHHHHHH!
