OK, so I went and had a look back at Karatallid to see if I could find any obvious faction tells. There wasn't a whole lot, but a few interesting bits and pieces:

- In favour of keeping people alive so that the economy keeps moving => Needs to acquire goods that she didn't have (makes sense looking at that Item in the bazaar - she probably needed all the metal she could get her hands on to summon her Djinn)

- Claimed not to have much money => Some people have said they see this as threatening.

- Was interested in the market thefts. => Perhaps some of her stuff got stolen? But then again, she would have been looking to buy metal rather than sell it, I'd have thought, and it was Metal and Jewelry that were stolen yesterday.

- Agrees with Anthras about me being a Warrior, and voted for me yesterday. Given that Warriors are more likely to be of the Nepeth, that might have given the impression she was in the HoA faction. This is probably the most interesting bit of evidence around.

So based on that trawl, I could see why someone might think she was a member of the Houses of Agreement. Maybe this was a Beggars Guild/Cult of Vultures hit?

Yeah, I think someone in Kara's own faction took them out. Bad kill I reckon. But it does demonstrate that those with killing powers are starting to feel strong and confident enough to act. So whilst I'm a little shocked to see three titles already gone - all to the Houses of Agreement faction - if this game is balanced well enough, then we could start seeing a lot more kills now than we have so far.

Incidentally, it appears Kara was the one with the Transmuter ability, so we may stop seeing those "I'll give you whatever you want" contracts now.

The Dreadfather has been spotted on the streets. The dark enforcer of the Cult is a tragic, misunderstood figure, walking the rope of reason above the looming chasm of murderous insanity. It will chafe on him that his allies are the Thieves he usually hunts. It is like a hunting cat teamed with hares: a recipe for disaster. Nevertheless, the tight discipline that is Hassan's one rescue line hasn't yet snapped. Elsewhere, ibn Qolat's latest puzzle seems the talk of the taverns, where clientèle huddles over braziers, torches and anything else the puzzle can be heated in, prodding at it with tongs, sticks, dagger tips and flicking it up and down. So far, one taberna has burned down as a brazier fell over, and thirteen fatal casualties as a result of the tiny poisonous barbs in the contraption have been reported. The fact that the Festival of Masks coincides with this puzzle doesn't help: festivities in the bawdyhouses spill over into the streets, leading to more accidents as joyous revellers busy themselves with the puzzle and the puzzlers.

From this I think we can establish that another Cult of Vultures player was active last night, but possibly to the detriment of their allies the Thieves? It also looks like whoever bought Huassan's Riddle of Despair has been tinkering with it, but I wonder if they've done every action? Then there's this 'Festival of Masks' - no idea about that but probably someone's ability.

So clearly people are being active, but whatever is being done is still mostly to do with building up everyone's power base, judging from the lack of actual events, aside from Kara's death now and the buying of titles.

At the moment, if we are going to lynch, I would prefer the lynching of a low-lier if nothing definitive happens. I know I haven't been the most active myself, but others have been taking the piss a little with their number of posts. BUT, even so, at the moment I am still happy not to lynch at all (how many times can that be said in a mafia game safely?!! This is definitely not your normal game!)

Contrary to the beginning of the game, I now feel both sides have equal killing roles. I think the assassin may even be a neutral faction, with different winning VCs... Maybe not, but either way, it seems instead of lynching we were meant to let deaths happen via the different combative people.

I agree that assassin could very well be one of the mystery factions, but why do you think the factions have equal killing abilities? My guess at the beginning of the game was that the HoA would have some kind of protective abilities and money, but could not be aggressors. Whereas the Nepeth would again be the Battle instigators and the Beggars might have some kind of night kill ability, or perhaps something which is almost as good (I'm thinking back to the Raiders of the previous game, who could stem water supply so the player died eventually of not having enough water).

Hmm, looks like someone is eager to sell information about my faction again. Once more, I can only respond: BOOOOOOOOOOO!

Actually, in the previous game, there was a neutral assassin character.

Haha, Huassan's Riddle thingy back on the market again - looks like someone didn't quite have the balls to go all the way through with it :(

Oooh, I see the Riddle of Despair is back in the bazaar. Looks like whoever bought it last time didn't want to be the one that opened it...guess that rules out my "Alkend is a RoD owning assassin" theory.

EDIT: X-post with Omtose

My guess had been that the person who bought the anti-assassination title bought that item, as it would be an easy way of getting some good money for them - but I guess not.

The house of iron sounds like a combat capable merchant group, to me.

This is where I got the house of iron from

And what of the House of Iron? What is their plan? They're very quiet, but they're also ibn Qolats oldest allies, Gold and Steel working in accord.

Well I only read this once before this, and I assumed Iron = armor and swords and such. It may be, looking again, that they just trade in metal.

Hm. I don't know, now.

Hm. Interesting that they put it back up, and it has all the actions done EXCEPT night. This lends credit to your Alkend idea, imo. Or at least your idea that the assassin bought it. They don't want to give up their night action, so they put it up to make a quick buck.

Pay 7500 for any good of your choice is up, I just noticed that. Looks like Bliss wasn't the only transmuter type.

Yeah, I saw that too.

And yeah, the fact that the Huassan's item wasn't used on night only is very telling - someone had a night action they wanted to use instead. Unfortunately, it doesn't tell us more than that. From PS' wrap-up post informing us of Kara's death, it looks like there was quite a bit of activity last night.

The thing is though, if it was owned by someone who could unlock the puzzle for the full 7500 dinari, then why would they sell it again? Surely they'd keep it until they had a Night Action free and then take the money? 7.5k is 25% of what you need to buy a title, after all. Obviously the assassin had other uses for their night action, but I don't think that necessarily means that they were the one who owned the RoD. Likely someone bought it opportunistically and is now trying to sell it again for some money. IIRC, PS did drop a hint that it could be used like that back when it first appeared.

I get the impression people aren't going to be using the transmuter much. 4 magic for a good of your choice is a pretty expensive exchange. It's probably why these contracts are so expensive - On the open market, magic has been selling at 1000 dinari each very easily, sometimes more (back on Day 1 I notice there are some purchases for 2000d per unit). So if you're looking to make a profit, you've got to price these contracts pretty high.

We're starting to see a lot more of these 'information contracts' pop up now - will the bazaar turn from a goods to information-driven market?

Yeah I'm not a fan of the information selling market atm. Maybe it's because no one is buying my shit, and I'm the latest one whose information is being sold.

Let me clarify that. People aren't buying my goods. I wasn't implying I'm selling any information. Just somewhat annoyed by the success of that market and the failure of mine.
