I've read it on a forum
I don't remember the URL but I'll try to find it.
GRRM has read some parts of his book in cons
and people who got the chance to hear it posted spoilers
you learn several interesting things such as
Spoilers ahead!

-Maega Mormont was a traitor to Robb all along. She was aware of the red wedding trap from the beginning
-Arya is on her way to Braavos. It seems she's going to be an assassin (sorry I don't remember the name of the clan. Something like "sorry men". What I remember is that they say sorry before they kill)
-Jaime doesn't have the same relation with his sister Cersei anymore. They seem to be cross with each other
-Tyrion is with Illyrio. I think he'll join Danaerys
-We'll learn more about House Martell in the prologue (the prologue will be seven chapters long with different POV)
-We won't see Bran a lot

that's it
that's all I recall right now

So, Mr Martin is guesting at the Ottowa Writer's Workshop this year, is he... will this delay (even further) the new book?

Perhaps.

On the other hand, I'd rather wait a long time for something good than take whatever half arsed thing is produced before the weiter is finishes.

Ser Duncan the Tall, (former) Lord Commander of the Kingsguard is mentioned in A Storm of Swords when the Kingslayer sits down to read through that book... I forget what it was called, but it's a record/journal of the Kingsguard commanders.

So, if Dunk made it to the leader of the Kingsguard, I'd say he did okay for himself. Unfortunately it probably means that the girl he has his eye on (the puppeteer) is going to die or something, as the Kingsguard are forbidden to marry, etc. Oh well, every rose has its thorns.

I read all ASoIaF books that were out to this day, and loved every second of reading them...
now Tolkien is overrated...

Sorry if this has been added recently but I noticed an update on his site. Heres what he has to say :

Well, 2003 has come to an end... but sad to say, A FEAST FOR CROWS hasn't.

I'm getting closer, though, page by bloody page. Yesterday I finished another chapter, the forty-first (though I do move these chapters around as I write, so it probably won't be the forty-first when FEAST is finally published). It's a Davos chapter, his second in the volume.

I now have 911 manuscript pages in something very close to final draft form. I also have about eight additional chapters in fragmentary form, a couple of them fairly close to completion. But there's more that will be needed after that. I don't believe in saying, "Okay, I've got X number of pages, that's enough, I'll end the book." Each volume is a part of the overall story, but also needs its own beginning, middle, climax, and end to make for a satisfying read. As I have said here before, I am writing as fast as I can, but my first priority is to make the novel as good as it be.

The moment the book is done I will announce it here. The instant. The second. So if you visit this website, and this notice is still in place, it means I'm still writing. Various websites and bookshops have announced various publication dates, but until the book is actually finished and delivered, they are all pure guesswork.

No one really knows when A FEAST FOR CROWS will be finished, or when it will be published. Especially not me. When I do, know, I'll tell you here. For now, though, the only answer must remain, "As soon as possible."

Once again, I'd like to thank all my readers for their patience and support.

Subterranean Press has just announced that the new George R. R. Martin Retrospective (over 1000 pages long) will be released in late August. The book is done!

It will be released in a trade edition and a signed limited edition. SP is warning people that this will have a first printing smaller than most may expect.

Ahh, but they saw Bolton men, as in Roose Bolton, who was an ally. So why would they be suspicious?

I'm gonna hold off with my reread until Martin announces that he's done with a Feast for Crows.

I always think, present company excluded of course, that there's something unpleasant lurking in people who avoid drinking, gambling, table talk and pretty women

I must say that I am staggered that people do not like Martin when they like Erikson. Between them, they represent some of the finest examples of fantasy writing, ever. Oh well, I suppose I cannot expect everyone to agree with me. It would be nice, though...

The symbol of House Baratheon is the stag. The symbol of House Stark is the direwolf. Thus, the finding of a dead direwolf with a piece of antler stuck in it is a powerful, and ominous omen... or foreshadowing.

Jhag, the Hedge knight is indeed very good. It goes to show that he sin't as reliant on explicit language or sex to tell a story.

And good news, there's another story coming for Legends 2 out around this summer I think. Probably explaining how Egg became King and Dunk head of the KG.

I've just watched "Doorways" a SF TV Movie, written by GRRM about ten years ago.

Utter tosh.

Although, Carrie Ann Moss from the Matrix was in it.

( His work on the Outer Limits was far better )

Yeah, i agree with you, that the later half of WoT ground to a halt and even i stopped caring for most of the cast, but at least i cared for them at the start- but for Martin, rite from the start, he couldn't get me involved with any of his characters. They all seemed distant, cold, dark people- many people say thats why his books are good, because there are no outright "goodguys" and "badguys"- and i agree with that to a certain extent. But what Martin has done in trying to go for that balance of good/evil in each character is made me unsympathetic to them ie. if they do something bad, and then something bad happens to them then i seriously don't feel sorry for them coz i think they deserved it

On the other hand, his story "The Hedge Knight" in the Legends anthology was much, much better coz he actually got me involved with the protagonist coz the guy was 'nice'.

I'm not saying i prefer simple books with black and white lines of good + evil etc. However, to identify and get involved with a character i have to see something of myself in them, and Martin's don't deliver...

Good news..of a sort. This is taken from GRRMs site today.

...Meanwhile, for those who cannot wait another six months or so to return to the Seven Kingdoms, there will be a novella-length excerpt from the fourth book in the March issue of DRAGON magazine, which should be on sale in most good newsstands and gaming stores by late February.

The novella is titled "Arms of the Kraken," and is part of the Prologue of A FEAST FOR CROWS, although the action overlaps the end of A STORM OF SWORDS. Set on the storm-swept Iron Islands, "Arms of the Kraken" tells the story of the struggle for the Seastone Chair after the death of Balon Greyjoy, and sets the stage for some important developments in A FEAST FOR CROWS. You will find it in DRAGON, issue #305.
