The source -- a former MI6 operative w/ a good intelligence record, who's been vetted along with his sources -- seems pretty solid. I imagine he did a lot of wide-net fishing for info, but knows how to do his job in sifting through it anyway. I think there's fair middle ground between taking every word of the report as gospel and taking it all with a grain of salt.

And besides, a lot of it isn't just plausible, it's like a hair off from being a Given. Trump bribes foreign business/gov entities to get his way. Trump hires prostitutes. Trump has mafia ties. All of this stuff was plainly true even before today.

All the lovely puns aside, it is simply a story that cannot be verified and therefore publishing it is questionable: the Guardian for example wrote they received this report weeks ago and decided not to publish it because of this reason.

However, it has circulated through the intelligence community, apparently was included in briefs to Obama and Trump (ouch), went through high levels of government and has also not been disproved (entirely).

Also saying that because the Kremlin said that they didn't have any compromising intel on Trump totally means that we should believe them. WTF! That is like asking a rapist if he raped someone. Of course he is going to say no or that it was consensual.

Also there is 57% of America that want to see his Tax returns. You know the Majority of the country that didn't vote for him. The press is right to keep pressuring him to show his returns and what ties he has. Until he does I just assume that he owes billions directly to Putin.

The funny thing about the buzzfeed story is Trump is singularly ill-positioned to defend against it.

He had denied all accusations of anything so reflexively, that his response to the report is exactly what you would expect, true or false.

The more he talks the more worried I become. I dont believe he will destroy America. At the end of the day I believe the constition, the public, congress, having the worlds alrgest army means that after one or even two terms of Trump America wont be too different than it is now but the way he talks and the things he focuses on are just amazing. He lashes out at his countires own intelligence agencies, he lashes out at the media, he denies facts.

I think its a sad indictment on the wierd divide in american politics of republican vs democrat that allowed him to be elected.
