Just listened to that track (or rather, three tracks...) for the first time in years and man it's actually pretty good. Jon Schaeffer is a good riff guitarist and Matt Barlowe (, the guy who is the one who joined Judas Priest iirc) has great prog-power vocals. I did like that particular album but Iced Earth overall were never among my favourites.

Tim "Ripper" Owens is the IE singer who joined Judas Priest - and has expressed some, er, interesting views along the lines of Schaffer before. Tracks like The Reckoning and Ten Thousand Strong are good IE tracks with him on vocals if anyone fancies a listen. He was in the band between Barlow's two stints - iirc Barlow left the band after 9/11 wanting to go into public service and I think became a firefighter.

Matt Barlow was the better of the two for me, they are both very good singers but I like his tone better. IE were a bit of a gateway band for me and I haven't listened to them regularly in a long time. Might have to dig some out today!

They're a pretty good death metal band that don't take themselves too seriously as you might imagine.

Unsurprisingly, Epica are to release 'Omega Alive', the recent online show, on blu-ray, DVD, CD and vinyl, in various combinations, on December 3rd. They've also released the video of Unchain Utopia from said show.

Hey, settle down, I know it's an old one, but Babymetal's "Gimme Chocolate!!" was the soundtrack to the Tina Tina's Wonderlands trailer that premiered at the PlayStation Showcase. And it was the perfect song. Posted Image So I just had to post to the metal thread.

Oh, I know guys across a few bands who tour with Party Cannon a lot. Basically Silly Band if they were slam death metal. Nice lads from what I've been told.

2MTLN doing it up again. John Carpenter as composer might be the most impressive hat he wears.

So, one of the greatest and most interesting bands in metal - Persefone - has released a new single in advance of a new album and I am HOOKED. I love this band so freaking much and every album is fresh sounding. Check it out!

Looking forward to it!
Yesterday, upon the stair, I saw a man who wasn't there. He wasn't there again today. Oh, how I wish he'd go away.

If not for the pandemic this Thanksgiving Eve (right now) I'd probably be at----

(but their Philadelphia stop)

Would have been nice for a postpandemic Thanksgiving Eve (if there ever is one...).

Cheers Azath. I haven't heard metal I've liked this much in years. You have some good taste.
