Recent discovery for me - Ancient Bards. I would suggest if you like stuff like Rhapsody of Fire, Kamelot etc.

Those two bands aren't selling it to me if I'm honest...

Cheesy power metal is an acquired taste, to be sure!

For some extra cheese you should look at Grailknights. They dress up like superheroknights and tell a story about some dark Lord and a holy grail.

And now I know what to look up on Youtube when I get home. :(

Don't get me wrong I went through that phase (for a while I was all about Dragonforce!) but now it just grates me a bit. Obviously I still dip in every now and then! :(

A bit? *shivers*

Although I have in the past been dragged to concerts by entities such as Sonata Arctica and Ensiferum and quite enjoyed their live shows. Though I guess Ensiferum is borderline anyway.

Yesterday, upon the stair, I saw a man who wasn't there. He wasn't there again today. Oh, how I wish he'd go away.

If you ever get a chance to engage with RVP (Dev's drummer) on social media, take it. He's really responsive to any comments and super nice to boot.

In further power metal antics.... my favourite band Serenity have their new album out in January and have just released the first single, thought I'd stick it in here in case it tickled anyone else. Again, it's Kamelot, Rhapsody and Nightwish sort of territory.

Oh Hoods marble balls on an anvil, this could be the most beautiful and powerful thing I have heard in a long time. I'm honestly a bit speechless.

I confess myself a nostalgic fan of Disturbed from being a teenager - but regardless, that cover is incredible.

Epica are my faves - hope you get to listen to some more. The Quantum Enigma and Design Your Universe in particular are fantastic albums :)

I recommend the Fallen Sanctuary album if you want to look for any more - the new one with Iniquity doesn't come out until the end of January :D
