Having read the Reaper's Gale prologue, there is a bit more fodder for storyline based questions:

5) In the Midnight Tides prologue, we are given the impression from the conversation between Mael and Gothos that Osserc fought Rake in an attempt to stop him from reaching Scabandari in time to avenge his brother's death. On the other hand, in the newly posted Reaper's Gale prologue, Rake states that Osserc did not stand in his way and that he never had any plans for vengence anyway. Is someone lying, or is it just a case of some time passing between the two events?

6) Kilmandaros has been called an Elder God throughout the series... but what is she god of?

Don't look now, but I think there's something weird attached to the bottom of my posts.

What style of beer is Coop's Malazan Dark? Is there any particular beer that has inspired it?

Did you participate in any Central American Indian shamanistic rituals in your anthropology travels? If so, did they contribute to the creation of the warrens?

Gardens of the moon has references to events in books released such a long time after GOTM was first published.
how much of the following books had you written or planned before you wrote GOTM to give it that classic tie in to the epic events following?

So Hetan, how many questions do you want to collect before you send them to SE?

I really want an answer to the question of Karsa's height and if possible also a clarification of the giant bloodlines: Teblor, Thelomen, Thartano, Fenn, Toblakai and last but not least Thartano Thelomen Toblakai.

Well I really think we've got enough to fly with now.

I'll copy and paste them into an email and send it off to Steve this week.
.... then we just have to wait for him to find the time to reply :p

1 In Memories of Ice we are told that Night Chill turned against the Cadre, to get Dragnipur. Apparently she froze A'karonys, killing him.

But in Gardens of the Moon when Tattersail is witness to the battle, this can't be possible. Nightchill is ripped apart by Tayscrens demon before A'karonys is frozen.

So who froze him? Is it a "GotM'ism"?

Apt the questions have already been sent.
There are a kagillion responses to that question on the board and I'm sure you've taken part in those discussions.

Dear Hetan,

Crusing through this forum to get more information on Erikson books, your posts seem more knowledgeable and although I perhaps am guilty of not knowing the SOP's of this forum.I would like to find more information on forthcoming USA Hardcover release dates for books beyond Midnight TIdes and admit the standard websites are confusing and contradictory...
Would you be kind enough to point me in the right direction? I have never done a forum/chat?? before so not certain if this was the right way to go about asking questions.

8 to 9 months apart is the current publishing trend in the US. With MT scheduled for April of 2007 you should expect Bonehunters in the US around December 2007 or Jan 2008

Not a really relevant question, but here we go... I have watched 'Jarhead' a few weeks ago, and was experiencing a bit of a déjà vu when the marines arrange the scorpion fight in the desert.
Could it be that this scene inspired the scorpion fight in TBH (or perhaps it was the other way round...)?

And if ever SE gets to read this... thank you for your work, these books are imho the best fantasy books out there and have already blessed me with hours and hours of enjoyment. Thank you.

I would hate to think that anyone was inspired to do anything by Jarhead.

Except perhaps to physically destroy all copies of the film, or despise Gyllenhall even more.

Yet again I find myself agreeing with you.

Perish the thought. I actually saw Jarhead :)

Seen as you are answering... WILL YOU MARRY ME? ;)

Just a question.
