Well, we missed the start due to forum downtime, but I assume everyone has begun writing and is going strong. If not, post, and we'll shout encouraging things in your general direction. Or something. Even if so, post, so we all know how well we're doing!

I haven't had a chance to write more since my post on the temp board yesterday, so I'm still at..*checks*...8,302 words. Planning on doing some more this afternoon/after work. ;)

well, in my time zone, i'm on my second day of writing, and i'm clocking in at 5612 words. perhaps trying to chase silencer across the globe will put a little more piss in my vinegar, so that if i get ahead in the word count, i can say i'm writing faster than the speed of time!;)

*does the math*

So I'm writing at about 4150 words per day, while you are writing at a little over 2800. Assuming a continuation of this rate, you will never catch up to me, and at the end of the month our total word scores will be: 124500 and 84000, respectively. Which is actually a huge difference, come to think of it. O.o I need to slow down. XD

I won't be able to catch up to Silencer that's for sure. But I will make it to 50000 this time.
I'll post my evening's total later.

Well, I certainly don't. XD I'm actually not even planning to. But if I somehow manage to (as is often the case once I start writing something) I'm considering stopping the rapid writing at 50k words for that and starting on the other idea I've had floating around. It's nowhere near as fleshed out, but...

Because otherwise my inner editor is going to kill me in Editing Month. ;)

My problem so far has been that I edit while I write, and it's really fucking with my actual word output.

Wow, I'm going veeery slowly compared to some of you ;) I'm on 3382 words only, so I'm just barely on schedule. Just a quick question, if there is a definitive answer, how do you guys manage to write so much? :)

to be honest, i have a thousand monkeys banging on typewriters as we speak. the cost in bananas alone is driving me into the poor house! ;)

for reals now, i think doing a comprehensive outline is helping me a good bit, though of course, there's two or three curveballs that my brain has thrown at me that i'd just love to include, but can't figure out how to shoehorn in. pros and cons to this approach, obviously.

Dammit, gets to 11pm and I still haven't done any writing today. Time to remedy that methinks...

How am I writing so much? Uhm...yeah, the plan helps, though I'm very open to alterations - the outline is just that, an outline - as long as it doesn't force me to replot major points too much. More than that, I'd say that the movie in my head I'm trying to get down moves really rapidly, and it's a task to keep up without losing the train of thought/getting stuck looping the same thing and making it worse while my words catch up with the scenes. Also, seeing as it's the start of the story, this is the part I've given the most thought to, so it naturally goes pen to paper a lot faster than later portions, which I will have to stop to think about a bit more.

Aside from that...I haven't done any creative writing in a long while now, which kinda sucks, but it's great for allowing me to really get stuck in to this story. ;)

I had a complete wipe-out yesterday, and didn't get any words done. But am sitting down now to do yesterday's and today's quota, and we'll see how much farther than that I can get before I have to go sing for my supper.

Managed to get my 1300 words in, barely. It's now 2am, so this hardly counts as yesterday's quota, but if I get stuck in this morning, I'll easily make up for the technical lack of work yesterday. ;)

Time for bed!

I'm in for this too, but like UoW I'm going to use it as an excuse to bust out 2000 words a day on my WIP. Might also slot in some days of writing some short stories that have been knocking about for a while.

On that note, should really get started on Day 3's quota.

Wow, so far today I've written only about 300-400 words. Not actually bad considering it was done at school. I need to write some more now that I'm at home to keep up.

well, as of day three i'm over 8000 words. like silencer, i've got this movie running in my head, and it's demanding to be given life! plus it's bigger than me, so i don't want to provoke it ;)

I'm at 10990 words just now. Spent a bit of time this morning writing too, and hopefully I can get some more done this afternoon/after work again, which should put me back on track. ;)
