I'm gonna say that Red won't be Antsy or the other Darujistan survivor; they were there at the BB funeral, last mission and so on. Besides that immediately after TTH they have a lot more to grieve for.
I'll note too that there's a surprising lot about Whiskeyjack we don't know of; we know he had his "niece", Leoman's (apparently failed) lover. We know Hood did some major manipulation which he regrets, and somehow he became "iskar jarak" or however it's spelled to the primitive people Karsa met.

When I first read about the name "Red" I was thinking of an ex-crimson guard perhaps, since Esslemont does seem to 'own' the Crimson Guard.
But then I was thinking... Red... if it's not the hair, perhaps it's the eyes? There's the legendary drill-sergeant, who gave all Malazans (and especially Bridgeburners) their crazy names, I forgot his name... But when we saw him last, he was sitting in a bar in Night of Knives I think, drinking himself bonkers... and if I remember correctly, his eyes would bleed? Anyway, I thought it would be awesome to have a look at this guy, since obviously he's great as well. And he'd have reason to visit the tomb since he named half the people in there...
(+1 rep for the person who actually helps me remember his name...)

Some little part of me really wants it to be Antsy, even tho i realize ICE writing Antsy (or Kruppe for that matter) isn't likely to mirror SE writing him.
Braven Tooth was, afaik, never a Bridgeburner. Fiddler did have a chance to say goodbye in TCG so it seems unlikely to be him.
I'm reminded of how the priest character in SW appeared to be Heboric at the outset and turned out to be Ipshank.

Abyss, it doesn't specify that 'Red' is a Bridgeburner, just a Malazan veteran.
Captain of Team Quick Ben. Also teaboy.

Man, I hope we get to see Jumpy in this novel...
Cannot help but think that Red will be wrote to keep us guessing all the way through until a reveal at the end...
Who do I hope it will be... Fiddler, easily! Just to see more of this beloved character but I cannot see it happening...
Maybe a new character who we have heard about in passing... sentance or two, SE style layering!
And the best part..!
"Seguleh... FUCK YEH!
Coming again, to save the mother fucking day yeah,
Seguleh... FUCK YEH!"

Double indeed, but the 'old friends' comment is still suggestive of a BB.

True, but Brazen Tooth would be an 'old friend' as well, in a way, since he drilled many of the BBs.
Ah well, it's just guesswork of course, but I'd love 'Red' to be one of the more old guard people instead of just a 'normal' soldier who was close to the BBs
And on the Seguleh: it would be awesome if they side with the tyrant... though might be problematic for the good old Darujhistan people

Do we know things about Seguleh vs Tyrants? Weren't they once the subjects of the Tyrants before?

I don't care if it's a fucking flashback, this Torvald and Karsa scene is going to have to exist for ICE to ever get my fucking money (for hardback, that is, unless this one is REALLY bad) again. New synopsis is pretty good, at least.
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

Brazen Tooth is unlikely though not impossible. However you seem to think that he was last seen in NOK when he was in ROTCG. Also the blood tears thing caused by a particular tea is in TBH. He last did it when he heard that Dassem had died.
As for the Tyrant and Seguleh link id say that they are the Tyrants army and will be the ones to defend the city from Karsas Teblor army. Conceivably nothing else could stop them. Havnt read TTH in a while but Im sure theres hints and links (such as Torrud Segul i.e. linking the Torrud Cabal with the Seguleh plus the 2nds speech in BH) suggesting a resurgence of the Tyrant with a Seguleh army. Im sure it will have something to do with the FE aswell though this does complicate matters with the city only being 2000 years old (GOTMism most likely.)I also had a strange revelation that the Malazan veteran will be related to the 2 sisters who were killed by Kallor and were interred in Moons Spawn. Possibly one of their 7 brothers.
For the record 'Red' will have bright blue hair

As for the Tyrants army and Seguleh link I commented on upthread.
TBH MMPB p. 129. If you have the book to hand read a few pages either side but relevant is he seemed shocked that there where no Seguleh in the city and suggests they are being held in readiness for when the Tyrant returns. If youve got the book to hand read it very interesting.
I know its pretty much impossible but I hope the Tyrant is Dessimbelackis

Isn't it mentioned in the previous synopsis that the guy's name is Grift? Sounds like someone new to me. Why does nobody mention that? I mean it's hardly two Malazan veterans we're gonna be dealing with and it's equally unlikely that the previous synopsis just popped out of thin air and has nothing to do with the novel (alas.. jaghut tyrant..).
The ex-Claw at first sounded like Cutter to me but he's no Claw so my money are on Toc the Younger.
"His mission" effectively kills out Kiska even though she was the likeliest choice plot-wise.
Btw i personally have had just about enough of thrones in this series

Either way, all who seek this ancient artifact - from magic-weilding mages and battle-scarred warriors to a Malazan army deserter called Grift - believe it will bestow unlimited power upon the eventual possessor.

It just says he's CALLED Grift, not that thats who he is. We all know people in the Malazan world love fake names.
I've always been crazy but its kept me from going insane.

That rules out Fiddler though, as he only uses extremely obvious aliases. Strings, Tiny Cello, and Bow-wielder for example.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.
