I must be listening to too much creepy music (Massive Attack, e.g.), watching too many strange shows (Misfits, for instance) or just going through a weird cycle, but I swear last night I had some of the most vivid dreams ever in a long time.

I dreamt a group of us were riding down an elevator with the sense of accomplishment after foiling a terrorist bomb attempt when we noticed a person nodding off over a suspicious bag at his feet. I shouted "get him, he's a terrorist" and we were on him like mafia players on a train. Turns out the bag was full of sacks of sand like substance (thought to be gun powder at the time) with a detonator at the bottom of the bag. And so we separated out the bags of explosive, removed the detonator (which still had 10 minute's left on the clock) and diffused it's capacity to spark the load. Upon carrying out the explosives, a couple of bad guys ran up behind us and said something to the effect of sayonara and remotely activated the detonator, which fortunately did not spark the armful of bagged gunpowder, much to my smug satisfaction.

But this somewhat bland dream was preceded by a horror. I dreamt my kid had a heart condition and had to go to surgery. And my family and I were running back and forth through the hospital, climbing and descending stairs, dressing in surgical scrubs to visit the surgery in progress, and sitting in muted anguish in a hotel-room-like waiting area asking how this could happen. And there were several conversations with friend-like figures and family, despairing over my kid's chances. Finally, one venture into the OR revealed an empty room with blood splatters and discarded surgical blankets and towels. Someone told me the surgery was over and kiddo was back in his room, which turned out to be a positive pressure airlock that required extra precautions to enter. And as I was agonizing with my wife when to go in and see my son, someone told us that things did not look good for him. And their the dream ended.

Had a dream I was in what appeared to be Jurassic Park with other camper/explorer people-types. We were crossing a tiny little stream, no wider than two metres, and a MOTHERFUCKING TITANIC PINK SALMON REARS UP OUT OF THE STREAM AND LUNGES AT ME!

Then I woke up. Thank fuck.

I often have violent dreams which are like a movie but somehow, they leave me more sad than scared. What wakes me up soaked in sweat and with a beating heart and keeps me awake is when I dream of snakes.

So my dream last night starts out. I'm at home and I've just made an awesome cake. I hear noise at my door and find that my friends are walking by outside. The problem is that my door doesn't give directly outside, even less is it the storefront of where I work. Then I forget a part and I'm going to the Moon and have fun running around. I come back and go on a second trip into Low Earth orbit.
Again I forget a part.
Back to the minimall where I work except that the store whose doors we are technically in front of is nothing but a wall. Me and about 10 people, only two whom I can remember are there. We are sitting in sales bins for lack of chairs, it's not as uncomfortable as you'd think, at least in the dream.
Then a girl I've had a crush on comes by and she has nowhere so sit, and one of the two people I recognize says to sit on me since I wouldn't mind. I make a facial expression that seems to work and she gets on (it does not get R rated though, even later).
So were sitting there, I'm enjoying now being in that beginning stage of a relationship, all cuddly and she's gotten into it as well. Then up from the river we see a rocket. A Russian Soyuz rocket to be precise and it's at a strange angle. There's something over it that looks like a plane. The rocket blows up. Something small goes whizzing by over us from the explosion. We get up and run into the parking lot and see to Canadian Snowbirds in hot pursuit of said object.
Me and the girl decide to run after it. We go up the street and suddenly we're in a wooded area and there's a clearing beyond the trees. We get there, it looks like an old drained swamp. We get attacked by something that looks like a mix between an African lion and a Puma. Somehow I manage to break one of its front paws. Then what I assume is a conservation agent comes up and tells me I shouldn't have done that.
Paying no heed me and the girl go right from the clearing back into the woods since we saw an old abandoned tree house that could give us a good vantage point on the crash site.
We climb the structure and find ourselves on a roof of some building in a rather dense European urban area with a courtyard below. We can see smoke further coming up from behind some buildings. We decide to sit here and watch what happens. There other people as well. They're just faceless NPCs though.
There's action in the courtyard below. It's not violent, just something happening, I don't remember what though. I think it had something to do with food.
Someone comes up and asks if I want to go back into space. To my wakened self's horror I say: "I've been twice. Let someone else go." I'm far more altruistic in my dreams apparently.
That's the last thing I remember.

OK, here's one of mine that I had written down from a couple years ago. I have some pretty weird dreams...

I was invited to a handfasting by an old friend, and when I asked her what I should wear, I was told to "come as I am" so I arrived naked. When I drove up, I saw that there were people wearing body paints, so I walked up thinking I had done as was expected of me, however when I joined the crowd, I realized that I was the only naked one there. Although no one treated me any differently, I still felt ashamed for my nudity. The celebration was on an open street, such as you might find in any city. A stripper danced by and cast off her dress so I grabbed it and quickly put it on. I asked my friend if she was mad at me for being naked, and let her know that I had misunderstood her answer on what I should wear, but she replied that she wasn't, however there was a man would be, but who cared what he thought? The man was someone important, so I wondered to myself if I should apologize to him as well.
Then my friend and her husband gave me a set of oils that they said were linked to the chakras. I offered to pay for them, but they refused.
The rest gets blurry… my friend's husband lit some kind of incense, and the smoke seemed to induce a dreamlike state. Then a girl walked up to me and kissed me full on the lips. She laughed and told me that she liked elephants, then asked if I would like her to take me to a place where everyone loved elephants. And then I woke up.

Here's another one...

My Dad found a puppy, and couldn't find who he belonged to. He showed me the puppy, a cute little beige and white husky looking thing:

My Dad said that he was 'tough like a bear' and that he had named him Oscar for lack of anything better to call him.

I picked him up, and OF COURSE fell in love. He was a cute fluffy little guy, and 'tough like a bear' right? So I decided that I was going to ask my boyfriend at the time if I could keep him.

I set off on a loooooooong journey up a mountain of ice to find my boyfriend with Oscar in my arms. As I wound up the mountain, I came upon a black and white dog and her puppy. The puppy got up from his mother and started following me. Further up I went, and I saw a beagle puppy. The puppy was snuggled up in some leaves to hide from the cold, but when he saw us, he got up and started following us too.

Up, up and up the mountain I walked, gaining more puppies in my wake, until Oscar and I reached the top. And there at the mountains summit, we found a McDonalds. I went in and found my boyfriend at the play area with a bunch of friends and family.

Tentatively, I held out Oscar, explaining that he had no mommy and daddy, and no home. I also told my bf that Oscar WAS Tough Like a Bear (an obvious selling point), and asked if I could keep him.

And then I woke up. Images of Oscar continue to haunt me. Oscaaaaaaaaaaar! I miss you!!!

A few nights back, not going much into detail, I had a dream which had me in a hard-choice situation between the gf and my sister - who will I save and who will I abandon? Harsh shit.

I had an extremely tense dream that my brother and I killed someone, and we were trying to explain why there was blood everywhere and ahhh. It was scary.

Last night, I dreamed that there was this very evil, illegitimate corporation that specialises in destroying ALL fluffy teddy bears. They arrived at the teddy bear factory in their unmarked, black vehicles, while my family and I were taking a tour of this factory for some reason. Suddenly, there was brown smoke everywhere, and someone shouted, "IT'S OXYGEN REMOVAL GAS!". We all panicked, and dispersed through the factory. I dove straight between shipping containers, and could feel myself being affected by this horrendous gas. Clearly, the corporation couldn't just ask us to leave before killing the teddy bears. For some reason, the more gas I inhaled, the more I transformed into a remote-controlled, flying teddy bear. I rose above the fumes, and could hear my mom and my brother spluttering as I flew away. I saw two men outside, dressed in very evil black tuxedos, and wearing very evil black shades. They saw me, and teddy-me veered away, and I escaped. I saw the CEO spit on the floor. Explosive spit. I just knew it would be.

I flew a little further away, to a rural area directly adjacent to the factory/warehouse. I was a person again, and started walking up a grassy hill to where two old ladies were cooking mushrooms and meat. I was very sad at that time, because my family was about to suffocate and be blown up. I greeted them in the local language, Zulu. "Sanibona," I said sadly, before dropping to my knees. They started to sing some silly Zulu welcome song that doesn't exist, and stopped when they saw I was crying. They offered me some lamb chops and said "Inyama yonke," ("ALL the meat!"- in Zulu) and giggled to themselves. Then they were concerned, and asked what was wrong. I pointed to the factory/warehouse, and explained through thick tears that my family was about to die. As I took my phone out to ask for help, the CEO's spit exploded, and they died. I saw an image of my brother's sooty, charred body just before I woke up.

The weird thing is, I only understood what the women said in Zulu after I woke up, thought about it, and translated what I 'heard'. You would think that because it's my own brain translating a meme into another language, that I would know it immediately... Guess not. Brains are weird.

I read all these dreams and this is by far the weirdest.

This was a very strange part of my childhood. I don't recall how often, but right in the middle of a dream, I would fly to the clouds and fly through this tunnel that I can only describe as the way the closet looks in poltergeist at the end, with all sorts of hellish creatures in it, demons, skeletons, etc. After the first time having this tangent in my dreams, I would close my eyes while in the tunnel from fear, I do recall having it again later when I was older and I think I battled something in the tunnel.

So, I had two dreams last night.

The first was your standard siege type dream were I and a few others were locked down in an old abandoned military complex and had to fight off incursions from plague infected mutants whilst also having to deal with the thermo-nuclear clean up that was scheduled to occur at 0400 hours. One of those - need to get away but can't break through enemy lines type situation. All in all a good dream.

The second dream was a little different to my usual dreams - it started with me coughing and coughing and having trouble breathing. Then I started to gag and then I coughed up some white silk thread stuff and so I proceeded to pull it out of my mouth and it got thicker and thicker and eventually with one final cough I pulled out a massive spider sack from my mouth and dropped it on the ground in front of my feet. I'm standing over it and it starts to writher and bulge and the next second the top splits and thousands upon thousands of little brown spiders spill out of it. They gather around my feet like a brown quivering carpet and I start walking and they move out of the way of each foot step. So, I reach the top of a crest and there's a road that runs down into a small township and I start to head towards it with the brown spidery carpet keeing pace. I get into the township and the spiders start to rush off in all directions like little brown waves and they start to envelope people and animals - entering their ears, mouths and noses. So there I am, calmly walking down the main street while my spiders kill and suffocate every living thing in town. I get to the other side of town, stop, turn around, smile at my little brown friends then continue walking away from town whilst whistling Sweet Home Alabama. Which is strange because I can't whistle. Then I woke up.

I did have a third dream but I don't remember it well except that it was kinda like The Cube only the surroundings were made of wood and we could smell smoke somewhere so we were trying to find a way out but every now and again the rooms would change and we'd have to escape the fire. I vaguely remember something about exploding toilets and ant farms but it's pretty blurry.

The thing is that dream wasn't really out of the ordinary for me. If I had the ability to write I think I'd make a good horror/thriller writer based off my dreams. It's at the point now that when I go to tell Matador about my dreams he stops me and says 'Only tell me about it if it's one of your Michael Bay type dreams otherwise I don't want to know.' He says the more I tell him about my dreams the greater his concern is that I may only be one or two life events away from being a full-fledge sociopath. :smoke:
