Finished Curse of Osiris yesterday in Destiny 2. Playing the warmind expansion today.

The last boss fight was weak in Osiris but otherwise it was cool. I wish they'd used Osiris as a vehicle to tell us more about the Vanguard's past. There's so much scope and atmosphere in these games. There's just not enough lore to ground it.

I've definitely noticed the lacking loot variations now. I just keep getting the same purples with differing perks. The few exotics I've seen are low level and impossibly expensive to upgrade.

The bow is amazing though. You can pick off scores of enemies with ease with this thing.

Bow is a new weapons type with Forsake.

And YES on the lore thing. The amount of times they drop the ball on that and don't live up to the potential is jaw-dropping.

Killed Tiamat last night. Once I figured out how to get her to land, killed her in one try. I actually miss the life bars telling me how much longer I have to whittle away at a boss's hide- good thing Darksiders 2 introduced those.

Anyhow, played up to Ulthane, but i'll be damned if I remember how to beat him, <_< I'll probably figure it out this evening (it'll probably turn out to be smth basic, like using Chaos form, probably, since the game went through pains to make me fight in that form in the shadow lurker's challenge just before).

One thing I noticed about Apocalyptic difficulty: the "really tough" bosses, I'm handling pretty well (I also killed the Jailer on first try). It's the "regular" big demons that get me, because they do unexpectedly serious damage with a single hit. I died like 15 times in a cathedral in a fight that had 3 waves, ending up with a pair of those ice knights--just because I kept underestimating how much damage a hit from them (or that poison demon) does.

Still, having much fun, and eagerly waiting for a chance to come back to places I already visited with new tools to enter the locked off areas.

The one in Drenchfort? Don't remember.

I was right about Ulthane. Did his "game" last night, and got into the Griever's rtunnels, when sound started to desync. May need to reload an earlier save if just quitting and restarting won't solve it.

I dislike games that make it really hard to save. Like, if you don't want to have the option to save whenever you want I get that but at least have some form of auto-save or at least make save points a lot more regular. I remember playing I've of the Resident Evil games and desperately looking for a typewriter or whatever it was. Very frustrating.

It can be done well. Alien Isolation is the perfect example of manual save points being integrated into the game. The sense of relief is enormous when you find one. Plus the actual saving animation takes some time - during which the Alien can interrupt you. So there's tension even when there's relief. It's built in and interspersed so well along the game world that what might seem a chore at first turns into another excellent mechanism in an outstanding game.

Optional? I don't think that's the one I meant then. But I don't recall DS2 as well as the original (the second game was masive)

Started Shadow of War. Utterly lived the first one so I'm quite excited for this despite a fair number of people telling me it's not good. So far I'm enjoying the familiar style and way that captains/missions are set up and so on, though the controls seem a bit... Clunky... I imagine I'll get used to them in time. Hoping I'll be able to finish it by December but the map looks pretty huge so I'm not expecting to...

Anything directly following HZD seems a bit clunky.
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

True that. I remember diving into Witcher 3 Blood & Wine straight after finishing HZD and being horrified at Geralt lumbering around like a three-legged elephant in comparison <_<

So it was in the second area (the floating wasteland with lots of Necropolises) - about halfway down the map was a dungeon that you never had to go into for any quests. And at the end there was a really nasty boss (ice themed). The main thing I recall is when he did his heccin super nasty attack you had to forward roll under his legs. If he froze you, he'd take you to funky town.

Yes. I keep pressing buttons that in HZD would have me do a beautiful movement that was visually impressive as well as stunningly effective against the enemies. In this it makes me crouch or something haha.

Playing so much Destiny 2. There's too many bounties and daily things for me to even look at the story. Now they just reintroduced the Iron Banner! How do you manage all these activities?

I didn't. I had so many that ended up expiring, unfinished. I would just focus on the ones that have the biggest potential to offer you the best loot.

I have so much crap that I need to pick up from the postmaster that it's not even funny. Most of it crap. Which I need to dismantle and then trade those pieces to the gunsmith for the potential to get even more worthless crap.

Iron Banner has light levels again now right? In which case, good luck!

I ignored all daily activities until after I finished the story and secondary missions.

Never played the PS 1. What one game defined that console? (looking for something to play, maybe I'll look for it on the PlayStation Store)

Good question. I don't think there's just one but there's some select stand outs. You've got to remember this was the dawn of 3d and polygons.

This was the 90s and extreme attitude.

To me there's a long list of classics.

Tekken 2

Resident Evil 1+2

Wipeout (Prodigy and Redbull!)

Final Fantasy 7

Metal Gear Solid

Ridge Racer

Tomb Raider

Destruction Derby

Crash Bandicoot

Twisted Metal 2

Die Hard Trilogy

So many awesome games.

To me the stand out is Final Fantasy and Metal Gear Solid. Those games did things that had never been seen before. They completely changed my view of what a game was.
