There has to be thread like this. Really. TCG has so many "OMG thats so brathtaking" scenes...

- Yedan Derryg slaying his first dragon. Cīmon. We knew he is badass. He has Hust. But this was so coldly professional.

- Last march and attack of Bridgeburners.

- Pores becoming "real" soldier - Kindly raging - heavies avenging Shorthand

- Spinnockīs speech. Crash.

- Regulars saluting

- QB and Kalam first FA cleaning

- Corrabīs last stand

- First meeting of Silchas and Tulas

- Hood biting FA/ Hood smashing FA/ Hood doing anything

And plenty moooore

So many more.

You mean Gesler? In either case it was a moving scene.

- Tavore, when regaining consciousness, worrying that when her helmet was removed, she looked messy...

..1st glimpse of a personality, and the woman behind all the cold iron.
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

What I found fascinating about the whole Hood fight with the Assail was the lack of magic. It just seemed that holds were warring and that physical confrontation was what was going to win the day.

Sincerely

God right there with that, when Lostara Yil is fastening Tavore's armor on and she catches a faint whiff of perfume and it almost makes her cry, something about that was so subtly powerful.

Korlat running up that hill.

So perfectly done, the scene was everything I hoped for but never expected to happen. Made me stop and cry, but happy tears.

What an incredible, excellent book; what a word master.

Draconus realising the Imass are undead now. Briljant insight into how long Draconus was gone from this world.

...doesn't that mean the Ritual must have been after the Crippled God fell? Because Dragnipur wasn't completed until after that.
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

I thought Quick Ben's whole initial scene was pretty awesome. First, he's alive at all. Then, there's that he's at the Spar of Andii. Then the dialog between himself and "Mother". And then the creation of a Darkness horse and leaping into chaos.
This was all way awesome. It did leave some questions to be answered...

The scene where Hood steps out of the rent and calmly walks over and chomps off the Forkrul Assails face and then states they don't need no stinking allies was fucking amazing. It is probably my favorite moment of the book because it was both unexpected and so violent.

We always wandered what the Jaghut did with those tusks. Now we know they are used to administer the Jaghut Kiss of Death.

Maybe we should look at the actual conversation to get the full meaning there, but I don't think that Draconus was surprised by the Imass being undead, after all he was still walking the Earth 200,000 years after their ritual, a ritual I doubt passed with out the notice of any Elder God.

Rather I think Draconus shock and outrage came from the fact that the war on the Jaghut continued to that day, that the Flesh and Bone bonecaster had refused to release them and now Olar Ethil was using the Imass in her own quest for power.

So many Holy Dragonfucknuts Moments...

- Yedan could fill this list himself, but the bit where he guts a dragon, charges through Lightfall, takes out a Hound and then walks back was just staggering.

- The Fiddling Hedge Drum. Pure Malazan sapper mayhem... Yes. YES! THIS IS WHAT WE WANT!!!

- "Courtesy of Kalam Mekhar."

- Corabb goes out hard.

- Brys shoves the FA god's Name right down Brother Deliverance's head.

- Badalle calls in the FA godbugs to save Tavore.

- Shortnose goes out REALLY hard.

- The Andii dragons arrive at Lightfall. Twice.

- Gesler's fistfight with Reverance.

- Gall takes out an FA as his OWN GUTS FALL OUT.

- Hood eating Equity's head.

- Tavore, Lostara, Gudd and Hevar CHARGE THE KOLANSII ARMY.

- A squad of Regulars runs over to support them.

- Tavore almost skewering Ganoes at the end. I threw up in my own mouth a little just then.

Draconus' outrage came from his realisation that Olar Ethil had undertaken the Ritual on the Imass - nothing to do with a flesh and blood Bonecaster - he connects T'lan with Tellan which is Olar Ethil's warren and realises what she has done to them hence "you spiteful, selfish, hag "

I realised that there is one awesome scene that wasnt in the book.

Days after Last Stand at Kaminsodīs body should arrive carriage with Bauchelain and Korbal with humming "mmm, what we got here"...:(

- Even tho it verged on comical, Ublala taking out Calm was pretty awesome.

- Pithy and Brevity and even Sharl at the Shore. There's a bit where Pithy gathers some troops and gets ready to wade back into the killing... "Oh yes, I want another taste." that gave me shivers.

- Just before the parley, when Brys, Kruhava and Hanavat are acknowledging each other, the battle with the Nah'ruk, and specifically the Charge. That was powerful writing.
